One-mode projecting is extensively used to compress bipartite networks. Since one-mode projection always less informative than the representation, a proper weighting method required better retain original information. In this article, inspired by network-based resource-allocation dynamics, we raise which can be directly applied in extracting hidden information of networks, with remarkably performance widely global ranking as well collaborative filtering. This work not only provides...

Recommender systems use data on past user preferences to predict possible future likes and interests. A key challenge is that while the most useful individual recommendations are be found among diverse niche objects, reliably accurate results obtained by methods recommend objects based or object similarity. In this paper we introduce a new algorithm specifically address of diversity show how it can used resolve apparent dilemma when combined in an elegant hybrid with accuracy-focused...

We show that to explain the growth of citation network by preferential attachment (PA), one has accept individual nodes exhibit heterogeneous fitness values decay with time. While previous PA-based models assumed either heterogeneity or in isolation, we propose a simple analytically treatable model combines these two factors. Depending on input assumptions, resulting degree distribution shows an exponential, log-normal power-law decay, which makes apt candidate for modeling wide range real systems.

Information overload in the modern society calls for highly efficient recommendation algorithms. In this letter we present a novel diffusion-based model, with users' ratings built into transition matrix. To speed up computation introduce Green function method. The numerical tests on benchmark database show that our prediction is superior to standard methods.

The study of the organization social networks is important for understanding opinion formation, rumor spreading, and emergence trends fashion. This paper reports empirical analysis extracted from four leading sites with functionality (Delicious, Flickr, Twitter YouTube) shows that they all display a scale-free leadership structure. To reproduce this feature, we propose an adaptive network model driven by recommending. Artificial agent-based simulations highlight "good get richer" mechanism...

The ever-increasing quantity and complexity of scientific production have made it difficult for researchers to keep track advances in their own fields. This, together with growing popularity online communities, calls the development effective information filtering tools. We propose here an algorithm which simultaneously computes reputation users fitness papers a bipartite network representing community. Evaluation on artificially-generated data real from Econophysics Forum is used determine...

Mutational signatures connect characteristic mutational patterns in the genome with biological or chemical processes that take place cancers. Analysis of can help elucidate tumor evolution, prognosis, and therapeutic strategies. Although tools for extracting de novo have been extensively benchmarked, a similar effort is lacking fit known to given catalog mutations. We fill this gap by comprehensively evaluating twelve signature fitting on synthetic catalogs empirically driven weights...

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are linked to cancer via pathogenic changes in their expression levels. Yet, it remains unclear whether lncRNAs can also impact tumour cell fitness function-altering somatic "driver" mutations. To search for such driver-lncRNAs, we here perform a genome-wide analysis of fitness-altering single nucleotide variants (SNVs) across cohort 2583 primary and 3527 metastatic tumours. The resulting 54 mutated positively-selected significantly enriched previously-reported...

We use this representation to predict which might become popular in the near future. Various prediction methods evaluated on three distinct datasets originating from online services (Movielens, Netflix, Digg). show that performance further enhanced if user social network is known centrality individual used weight their actions.
