A carbon catalyst obtained from glycerol, a byproduct of biodiesel processing, with high density sulfonic acid groups is prepared by carbonization and sulfurization (see figure). The catalyst, very good water tolerance reusability, useful for the preparation fatty acids or present in vegetable oils animal fats.

The proinflammatory cytokines and arachidonic acid (AA)-derived eicosanoids play a key role in cartilage degeneration osteoarthritis (OA). lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 3 (LPCAT3) preferentially incorporates AA into the membranes. Our recent studies showed that MALT1 [mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma translocation protein 1]) plays crucial propagating inflammatory signaling triggered by IL-1β other mediators endothelial cells. present study shows LPCAT3 expression was...

12-Tungstophosphoric acid (TPA) with varying contents supported on SnO2 catalysts was prepared and their efficacy as solid for the esterification of palmitic methanol investigated. The were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), temperature programmed desorption (TPD) NH3, Laser Raman, Brunner–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. activity depends amount dispersion TPA which in turn relates to acidity. Among...

Edible oil blends prepared from palm olein and sunflower/soybean oils (6:4 w/w) with desired fatty acid profile as per American Heart Association (AHA) recommended SFA:MUFA:PUFA ratio of 1:1:1 were used for frying food products to assess their stability against native oils. Frying was carried out two popular snacks namely, poori French fries low higher moisture content respectively. The retention/absorption more in the snack high compared moisture. Physico-chemical parameters like value,...

Abstract Commercially available microbial lipases from different sources were immobilized as cross‐linked enzyme aggregates (CLEAs) using precipitants and glutaraldehyde cross‐linkers. These CLEAs assayed based on esterification between lauric acid n ‐propanol in solvent‐free systems. Precipitants found to have a profound influence both specific activities total activity recovery of CLEAs, exemplified by Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB). Among the CALB studied, those obtained PEG600,...

A two-step process was developed for the preparation of triacetylglycerol (TAG), a biofuel additive employing solid acid catalyst derived from glycerol. The first step involves esterification glycerol with acetic (1:4 mol) at 115 °C 1 h in presence (5 wt %) to obtain 100% conversion 22, 67, and 11% MAG, DAG, TAG, respectively. In second step, esterified product mixture after removal excess moisture acetylated anhydride (1 mol respect glycerol) 30 min TAG. recovered reused five cycles without...
