Juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis is caused by mutation of a novel, endosomal/lysosomal membrane protein encoded CLN3. The observation that the mitochondrial ATPase subunit c accumulates in this disease suggests autophagy, pathway regulates turnover, may be disrupted. To test hypothesis, we examined autophagic Cln3(Deltaex7/8) knock-in mice and CbCln3(Deltaex7/8) cerebellar cells, accurate genetic models juvenile lipofuscinosis. In homozygous mice, found autophagy marker LC3-II was...

Accumulating evidences indicate that pulmonary exposure to carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is associated with increased risk of lung diseases, whereas the effect on vascular system less studied. We investigated effects 2 types multiwalled CNTs (MWCNTs) in apolipoprotein E−/− mice, wild-type and cultured cells. The ApoE−/− mice had accelerated plaque progression aorta after 5 intracheal instillations MWCNT (25.6 μg/mouse weekly for weeks). was inflammation, lipid peroxidation, expression...

Current research efforts on neurodegenerative diseases are focused identifying novel and reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis insight into disease progression. Salivary analysis is gaining increasing interest as a promising source of matrices measuring diseases. Saliva collection offers multiple advantages over the currently detected biofluids it easily accessible, non-invasive, repeatable, allowing timely treatment Here, we review existing findings salivary address potential value in...

Due to the wide uses of plastic products, nanoplastics are ubiquitous contaminants in environment. Hence, extensive studies used various models evaluate toxicity nanoplastics. In present study, we developed yellow mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) as an alternative model investigate acute Our results showed that microinjection with 500 mg/kg significantly increased death rate mealworms after 24 or 48 h, 100 nm particles being more effective compared 20 ones. Meanwhile, dose-dependent increase was...

Clearance of cellular debris is a critical feature the developing nervous system, as evidenced by severe neurological consequences lysosomal storage diseases in children. An important developmental process, which generates considerable debris, synapse elimination, many axonal branches are pruned. The fate these pruned not known. Here, we investigate role activity neurons and glia removal axon during early postnatal life. Using probe for activity, observed robust staining associated with...

Increasing evidences indicate that exposure to multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) could induce adverse vascular effects, but the role of length MWCNTs in determining toxic effects is less studied. This study investigated two well-characterized human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).The internalization and localization HUVECs were examined by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The cytotoxicity was assessed water soluble tetrazolium-8 (WST-8), lactate dehydrogenase...

Here, two dimensional Nb2C quantum dots with green fluorescence were fabricated for the first time a yield (QY) of up to 19%, highest reported so far good photostability and pH stability. The S,N doping on was considered be main reason enhanced high QY proved by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. It demonstrated that fluorescent probe could utilized effectively 3D brain organoid labeling thus has huge prospects in biological sensing.
