Bone fractures and defects pose serious health-related issues on patients. For clinical therapeutics, synthetic scaffolds have been actively explored to promote critical-sized bone regeneration, electrical stimulations are recognized as an effective auxiliary facilitate the process. Here, we develop a three-dimensional (3D) biomimetic scaffold integrated with thin-film silicon (Si)-based microstructures. This Si-based hybrid not only provides 3D hierarchical structure for guiding cell growth...

The regeneration of critical-size bone defects, especially those with irregular shapes, remains a clinical challenge. Various biomaterials have been developed to enhance regeneration, but the limitations on shape-adaptive capacity, complexity operation, and unsatisfied osteogenic bioactivity greatly restricted their application. In this work, we construct mechanically robust, tailorable water-responsive shape-memory silk fibroin/magnesium (SF/MgO) composite scaffold, which is able quickly...

Gpbar1 (TGR5), a membrane-bound bile acid receptor, is well-known for its roles in regulation of energy homeostasis and glucose metabolism. Here, we show that mice lacking TGR5 were much more susceptible to lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute gastric inflammation than wild-type (WT) negative regulator through antagonizing NF-κB signaling pathway. We found the treatment ligands 23(S)-mCDCA GPBARA (3-(2-Chlorophenyl)-N-(4-chlorophenyl)-N,5-dimethylisoxazole-4-carboxamide) suppressed gene...

Abstract The farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a key metabolic and homeostatic regulator in the liver. In present work, we identify novel role of FXR antagonizing c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway liver carcinogenesis by activating superoxide dismutase 3 (SOD3) transcription. Compared with wild-type mouse liver, FXR−/− showed elevated JNK phosphorylation. JNK1 deletion suppressed increase diethylnitrosamine-induced tumor number mice. These results suggest that plays...
