Chemically modified pine bark was synthesized by using glycidyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (GTMAC) in the presence of sodium hydroxide. Optimization modification parameters performed order to maximize vanadium removal. Parameters included initial NaOH concentration (0.01–2% w/v), GTMAC dosage (0.0067–0.0805 mol/g), time (1–6 h), temperature (40–80 ℃) and volume (25–100 mL). The optimal conditions were found be 0.1% (w/v), 0.0134 mol/g GTMAC, 3 h 60 ℃. played most important role successful...

Abstract Because of spontaneous agglomeration effect and undesirable electronic state Zr sites on the surface, zirconium (hydro)oxides generally exhibit suboptimal defluoridation capacity. Herein, a template confinement‐ligand anchoring strategy is developed by utilizing confined growth hydroxide (ZH) inside chitosan hydrogel beads (CHB) subsequent fumaric acid (fm) its surface in monodentate mononuclear coordination mode. This technique leads to uniform dispersion ultrafine fmZH (≈3.4 nm)...

In the context of circular economy and global shortage phosphorus (P) fertilizer production, it is crucial to effectively recover P during treatment disposal sewage sludge (SS). Although thermal SS has been widely applied, a targeted reclamation route not yet well established. This study comprehensively investigated compared physicochemical properties solid residues (hydrochar (HC), biochar (BC), ash (SSA), hydrochar (HCA), (BCA)) after application three typical techniques (i.e.,...

Due to high moisture and protein contents in sewage sludge (SS), conventional thermal treatment of SS is energy-intensive a large amount harmful nitrogen-containing gases are emitted. In this study, sequential hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) CO2 gasification system has been proposed effectively improve the efficiency considerably reduce emissions NOx precursors (i.e., NH3 HCN) treatment. Yield quality syngas were comprehensively investigated during terms various temperatures with different...

In this study, two-step surface modification of sawdust using triethanolamine (at 180 °C) and iodomethane 42 was performed to produce a novel quaternized biosorbent, TEA-I-SD. The characterization studies revealed significant morphological changes in the successful quaternization with nitrogen content 5.75%. highest vanadium removal (96.2%) achieved at pH 4 (dosage 1 g/L, initial concentration 19.1 mg/L). Equilibrium within 8 h contact time adsorption kinetics were well fitted...

This study investigated the removal of vanadium from mining waters at a closed mine site (Mustavaara, Finland) using granular ferric oxyhydroxide (CFH-12) on pilot scale. Two filter systems, A and B, were placed in different streams, where influent contained higher very variable concentration (6.46-99.1 mg/L), while B treated had lower concentrations (0.443-2.33 mg/L). The operation periods 51 days for 127 B. Water quality analyses revealed that was efficiently captured system both pilots....

Removal of vanadium from liquid waste streams protects the environment toxic species and promotes recovery valuable metal. In this study, real mining ditch water was sampled a closed mine (V–Fe–Ti oxide deposit, Finland) used in sorption experiments at prevailing concentration (4.66–6.85 mg/L) pH conditions (7.02–7.83). The high represents potential health concern according to initial risk assessment carried out study. Vanadium efficiently removed using four different iron sorbents: ferric...

To realize sound disposal of hyperaccumulator harvested from phytoremediation, hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) has been employed to obtain superior hydrochar adsorbents for removal phosphate and ammonium water body. A series hydrochars have prepared under tuned HTC conditions tailor with desired properties. Generally, increased temperature prolonged reaction time facilitated acidic oxygen functional groups on hydrochars, thereby improving adsorption capacity hydrochar. In single solute...
