Abstract The European Alps are highly rich in species, but their future may be threatened by ongoing changes human land use and climate. Here, we reconstructed vegetation, temperature, impact livestock over the past ~12,000 years from Lake Sulsseewli, based on sedimentary ancient plant mammal DNA, pollen, spores, chironomids, microcharcoal. We assembled a highly-complete local DNA reference library (PhyloAlps, 3923 taxa), used this to obtain an exceptionally sed aDNA record of 366 taxa....

Abstract There is still limited consensus on the evolutionary history of species-rich temperate alpine floras due to a lack comparable and high-quality phylogenetic data covering multiple plant lineages. Here we reconstructed when how European lineages diversified, i.e., tempo drivers speciation events. We performed full-plastome phylogenomics used multi-clade comparative models applied six representative angiosperm that have diversified in mountains (212 sampled species, 251 ingroup species...

Until recently, Passiflora cerasina was known only from two herbarium specimens. Three botanical expeditions in French Guiana, 2008, 2009, and 2017, have greatly improved our knowledge on its geographical distribution morphological variation. A key to the Guianese species of series Laurifoliae is given. As holotype mentioned original description missing, we propose a neotype collected locus classicus.

While soil ecosystems undergo important modifications due to global change, the effect of properties on plant distributions is still poorly understood. Plant growth not only controlled by physico‐chemistry but also microbial activities through decomposition organic matter and recycling nutrients essential for plants. A growing body evidence suggests that functional traits modulate species’ response environmental gradients. However, no study has yet contrasted importance physico‐chemistry,...

Low-coverage whole genome shotgun sequencing (or skimming) has emerged as a cost-effective method for acquiring genomic data in nonmodel organisms. This provides sequence information on chloroplast (cpDNA), mitochondrial (mtDNA) and nuclear ribosomal regions (rDNA), which are over-represented within cells. However, numerous bioinformatic challenges remain to accurately rapidly obtain such organisms with complex structures rearrangements, particular mtDNA plants or cpDNA some plant families....

Ranunculaceae comprise ca. 2,500 species (ca. 55 genera) that display a broad range of floral diversity, particularly at the level perianth. Petals, when present, are often referred to as "elaborate" because they have complex morphology. In addition, petals usually produce and store nectar, which gives them crucial functional role in interaction with pollinators. Its morphological diversity richness make this family suitable model group for studying evolution morphologies. Our aims (1)...

Within the huge diversity of genus Passiflora, series Laurifoliae constitutes a strikingly uniform group, widely distributed in neotropical rain forests, at low to moderate elevations. Given its morphological and ecological unity, Killip mentionned it as an «exceedingly difficult» group. The lack clear criteria has not helped delimiting it, confusion grown with addition new species criteria. As preliminary step study within Laurifoliae, we re-examine delimitation, assessing how current 29...
