Abstract This study compared shy and nonshy Internet users in online offline contexts on the Revised Cheek Buss Shyness Scale (RCBSS; Cheek, 1983) other measures intended to gauge 4 underlying aspects of shyness: rejection sensitivity, initiating relationships, self-disclosure, providing emotional support advice. University students (N = 134; 76% female) participated a Web-based survey that investigated impact computer-mediated communications (CMC) shyness level. Results show individuals...

AbstractAn optimum design of low-cost housing offers low-income urban inhabitants great opportunities to obtain a shelter at an affordable price and acceptable indoor thermal conditions. In this paper, the operation dwelling were numerically optimized using simulation-based approach. Three multi-objective cost functions including construction cost, comfort performance 50-year operating applied for naturally ventilated air-conditioned buildings. Thermal environment inside house was controlled...

The well-known Darwinian evolutionary theory (1859) introduced natural selection as the most important mechanism of processes at every level from biological systems, including species, individual organisms… to molecules, such DNA or proteins. In architecture we observe similar evolution processes, which lead development various architectural movements and concepts common primitive living structures.Fundamentals vernacular have been used in bioclimatic architecture, has gradually become...

Due to increased tourist activity, many cities now have a large number of hotel buildings. It is necessary establish measures evaluate energy use intensity effectively manage consumption in this sector. This study uses combined strategy an benchmark for buildings Vietnam. First, survey and analysis actual building stock data 50 hotels Danang, Vietnam, was conducted. The survey-based its related then used build reference model estimate other climatic regions Vietnam by using the simulation...

This paper presents the development of a six-degree freedom (6-DOF) force moment sensor utilizing piezoresistive effects in silicon. The proposed can independently detect six components and on test particle turbulent flow. By combining p-type conventional shear piezoresistors Si (111), arranging them suitably sensing area, total number used this chip is only eighteen, much fewer than that prior art 6-DOF sensors. Calibration for versus output voltages was completed. sensitivities are linear,...

Climate change has had significant impacts on the global climate, affecting operational efficiency of buildings. This study employs future climate prediction methods based latest IPCC scenarios, using General Circulation Models (GCMs) to forecast conditions in three regions Vietnam. Additionally, integrates simulation and simulation-based optimization project rise greenhouse gas emissions level thermal discomfort (overheating) commercial buildings The findings indicate that, due effects...

To numerically simulate "bedload transport" of sediment by a turbulent flow over an erodible bed, our group has been developing "fictitious domain" methods to handle dense-phase particulate in liquid. We report on efforts check simulation method against experiment for liquid, namely rotating drum half-filled with spherical particles. Overall agreement between experimental and simulated values static dynamic angle repose is found be quite satisfactory, both air oil.

We numerically simulate "bedload transport" of noncohesive sediment by a turbulent liquid flow over an erodible bed using "fictitious domain" simulation method that employs fixed Cartesian grid. report here on comparison with challenging dense-phase particulate flow, namely rotating drum partially-filled spherical particles, through which oil flows to form free-surface flow. Overall agreement between experimental and simulated values for angles is found be quite satisfactory..
