ABSTRACT A 13-year-old boy with a 3-month history of diarrhea was successfully treated for rectal neuroendocrine tumor (NET) using endoscopic submucosal resection ligation (ESMR-L). Rectoscopy revealed in the lower rectum, diagnosed as NET upon pathological examination. ESMR-L resulted complete without complications. Pathological examination confirmed 6-mm low-grade no vascular invasion or positive margins. The patient discharged This case study indicates that can be applied to children,...

Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a chronic disorder characterized by upper abdominal symptoms in the absence of an identifiable organic cause. Although efficacy acotiamide has been demonstrated adults with FD, its effectiveness pediatric patients remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate FD. We conducted retrospective analysis 33 aged <16 years, who received at single children's hospital between August 2013 and March 2022. Symptomatic improvement was observed 57.6% (19/33) one month after...

We explored parameters to predicting the efficacy of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy for patients with Kawasaki disease (KD). retrospectively analyzed laboratory data 77 children KD treated IVIG. Data obtained before and within 24 hours after IVIG were compared between responders nonresponders. The white blood cell (WBC) neutrophil counts significantly lower in than nonresponders areas under receiver operating characteristics curves WBC 0.846 0.754, respectively. differed (the...

Carnitine plays an essential role in the transfer of long-chain fatty acids to mitochondria for β-oxidation. No study has characterized carnitine children with Kawasaki disease (KD). The objective this was elucidate characteristics serum free (FC) hospitalized pediatric patients KD.We retrospectively analyzed 45 KD whom FC levels were measured. We investigated clinical and laboratory parameters before intravenous immunoglobulin administered, including levels, according response (IVIG). also...

In 15 patients with Japanese cedar pollinosis and 10 healthy control subjects, levels of major basic protein (MBP), eosinophil cationic (ECP), arylsulfatase B (As) in the nasal secretions were examined before after challenge pollen extract. The MBP ECP significantly higher 30 min than those (P < 0.005). controls (MBP: P 0.01, ECP: 0.05). level As was controls. These results suggest that eosinophils activate or modify immediate, allergic reaction have a role regulating immunological responses.
