A measurement of direct photon production in ${}^{208}\mathrm{Pb}{+}^{208}\mathrm{Pb}$ collisions at $158A$ GeV has been carried out the CERN WA98 experiment. The invariant yield photons central is extracted as a function transverse momentum interval $0.5<{p}_{T}<4\mathrm{GeV}/c$. significant signal, compared to statistical and systematical errors, seen ${p}_{T}>1.5\mathrm{GeV}/c$. result constitutes first observation ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. It could be for diagnosis...
Four different combinations of 4496Ru and 4096Zr nuclei, both as projectile target, were investigated at the same bombarding energy 400AMeV using a 4π detector. The degree isospin mixing between target nucleons is mapped across large portion phase space two isospin-tracer observables, number measured protons tritium to 3He yield ratio. experimental results show that global equilibrium not reached even in most central collisions. Quantitative measures stopping are extracted from data. They...
Using the FOPI facility at GSI Darmstadt complete data of Au on collisions 150A MeV were collected for charged products (Z=1–15) laboratory angles 1°≤Θlab≤30°. Central selected by applying various criteria. The kinetic energy spectra fragments from an isolated midrapidity source are investigated in detail center-of-mass 25°≤Θc.m.≤45°. heavy (Z≥3) used to determine collective which is found be least 10A MeV.Received 14 April 1994DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.72.3468©1994 American...
A search for the production of direct photons in S+Au collisions at 200AGeV has been carried out CERN-WA80 experiment. For central measured photon excess each pT, averaged over range 0.5≤pT≤2.5GeV/c, corresponded to 5.0% total inclusive yield with a statistical error σstat=0.8% and systematic σsyst=5.8%. Upper limits on invariant 90% C.L. are presented. Possible implications dynamics high-energy heavy-ion discussed.Received 16 November 1995DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.76.3506©1996...
Charged particles have been observed in collisions of Au on at an incident energy 150A MeV using a high-granularity detector system covering approximately the forward hemisphere center-of-mass system. Highly central studied double selection criterion which combines large charged-particle multiplicities with small transverse-momentum directivities. In this class events about one quarter total nuclear charge emerges as intermediate-mass fragments charges Z>2. These are centered midrapidity and...
The production of charged pions, protons, and deuterons has been studied in central collisions ${}^{58}\mathrm{Ni}$ on at incident beam energies $1.06A$, $1.45A$, $1.93A$ GeV. dependence transverse-momentum rapidity spectra the energy centrality collison is presented. It shown that scaling mean shift protons established for between 10A 200A GeV Brookhaven AGS CERN SPS accelerators valid down to $1A$ degree nuclear stopping discussed; quantum molecular dynamics calculations reproduce measured...
Two-particle correlations of direct photons were measured in central 208Pb+208Pb collisions at 158A GeV. The invariant interferometric radii extracted for 100<K(T)<300 MeV/c and compared to from charged pion correlations. yield soft photons, K(T)<300 MeV/c, was the correlation strength theoretical calculations.
Event-by-event fluctuations in the multiplicities of charged particles and photons, total transverse energy 158AGeV Pb+Pb collisions are studied for a wide range centralities. For narrow centrality bins multiplicity distributions found to be near perfect Gaussians. The effect detector acceptance on has been demonstrated follow statistical considerations. dependence particle measured data agree reasonably well with those obtained from participant model. However, photons have lower compared...
The production of neutral pions in 158AGeV Pb+Pb collisions has been studied the WA98 experiment at CERN SPS. Transverse momentum spectra are for range 0.3 GeV/c < mT-m0 4.0 GeV/c. results central compared to various models. centrality dependence pion spectral shape and yield is investigated. An invariance a simple scaling with number participating nucleons observed centralities greater than about 30 which most naturally explained by assuming an equilibrated system.
The K0 meson production by π− mesons of 1.15 GeV/c momentum on C, Al, Cu, Sn, and Pb nuclear targets was measured with the FOPI spectrometer at Schwer-Ionen-Synchrotron accelerator GSI. Inclusive cross sections distributions are compared to scaled elementary predictions theoretical models describing in-medium kaons. data represent a new reference for those models, which widely used interpretation strangeness in heavy-ion collisions. presented results demonstrate sensitivity kaon reaction...
Azimuthal emission patterns of $K^\pm$ mesons have been measured in Ni + collisions with the FOPI spectrometer at a beam kinetic energy 1.91 A GeV. The transverse momentum $p_{T}$ integrated directed and elliptic flow $K^{+}$ $K^{-}$ as well centrality dependence - differential are compared to predictions HSD IQMD transport models. data exhibits different propagation compressed heated nuclear medium favor existence kaon-nucleon in-medium potential, repulsive for attractive mesons.
