The liquid-liquid partitioning of a crude hydroalcoholic extract Averrhoa carambola L., Oxalidaceae, leaves led to the isolation sterol and three flavone C-glycosides. From n-hexane fraction β-sitosterol was isolated from ethyl acetate apigenin-6-C-β-L-fucopyranoside (1) apigenin6-C-(2"-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl)-β-L-fucopyranoside (2) were obtained. Apigenin6-C-(2"-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (3) n-butanol fraction. Compound 3 is new, while 1 2 have been previously A. carambola....

This study describes anti-inflamatory activity of epicuticular wax (ECW) extracted from leaves Eugenia brasiliensis Lam., and its isolated compounds, catechin gallocatechin in a pleurisy model mice. The results for exudation cell migration showed that the extract compounds plant were effective inhibiting these inflammatory parameters. ECW demonstrated dose-dependent effect on inhibition migration. NOx levels reveals production this mediator, however, not able NO pleural cavity, at tested...

Nine compounds were isolated from the leaves of Eugenia catharinae, namely monomethyl olivetol (1), β-sitosterol (2), stigmasterol (3), uvaol (4), erythrodiol (5), rotundic acid (6), quercetin (7), catechin (8) and myricitrin (9). The structures 1-9 established through analysis their spectroscopic (1H 13C NMR) spectrometric (MS) data. Compounds 1 6 are reported first time in genus. In addition, these data compared with those literature. antioxidant activity plant samples was measured using...

Context: Polygala sabulosa, popularly known as “timutu-pinheirinho,” has been used in Brazilian folk medicine for the treatment of bowel and kidney disorders an expectorant. Objective: Evaluate anti-inflammatory effects crude extract (CE), acetonic fraction (Ac), main compound, 7-prenyloxi-6-methoxycoumarin (PC) on a mouse model carrageenan-induced pleurisy. Materials Methods: A pleurisy was to investigate P. sabulosa CE, Ac PC leukocyte migration, exudate formation, activities...
