An extensive set of benchmark measurement PDDs and beam profiles was performed in a heterogeneous layer phantom, including lung equivalent heterogeneity, by means several detectors compared against the predicted dose values different calculation algorithms two treatment planning systems. were measured with TLDs, plane parallel cylindrical ionization chambers films. Additionally, Monte Carlo simulations meansof PENELOPE code performed. Four field sizes ( , ) materials (CIRS, St. Bartholomew...
In 2011, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) recommended reducing occupational equivalent dose limit for lens of eye from 150 mSv/year to 20 mSv/year, averaged over five years, with no single year exceeding 50 mSv. With this recommendation, several important assumptions were made, such as lack rate effect, classification cataracts a tissue reaction threshold at 0.5 Gy, and progression minor opacities into vision-impairing cataracts. However, although new thresholds...
Differences in the I-131 uptake by 14 metastatic lesions from well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma and 12 local remnants of normal tissue before after an adjuvant therapy with lithium carbonate, were observed. After treatment administration tracer dose, a considerable increase radioiodine all was found (P less than 0.001), but only slight 50% tissue. The response to carbonate neoplastic seems be different that tissue, produces lengthening average biologic life could helpful when treating carcinoma.
The purpose of this work was to simulate with the Monte Carlo (MC) code PENELOPE dose distribution in lung tumours including breathing motion stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Two phantoms were modelled a pentagonal cross section chestwall (unit density), (density 0.3 g cm(-3)) and two spherical density) diameters respectively 2 cm 5 cm. phase-space files (PSF) four different SBRT field sizes 6 MV from Varian accelerator calculated used as beam sources obtain both profiles...
To evaluate the dose values predicted by several calculation algorithms in two treatment planning systems, Monte Carlo (MC) simulations and measurements means of various detectors were performed heterogeneous layer phantoms with water‐ bone‐equivalent materials. Percentage depth doses (PDDs) measured thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs), metal‐oxide semiconductor field‐effect transistors (MOSFETs), plane parallel cylindrical ionization chambers, beam profiles films. The MC code used for was...
Many head‐and‐neck cancer (HNC) patients treated with radiotherapy suffer significant anatomical changes due to tumor shrinkage or weight loss. The purpose of this study was assess dose over target volumes and organs at risk during intensity‐modulated for HNC patients. Sixteen IMRT patients, all requiring bilateral neck irradiation, were enrolled in the study. A performed initial distribution calculated. During treatment, two subsequent CTs 15th 25th fractions acquired. plan calculated on ,...
The ICRP has recently recommended reducing the occupational exposure dose limit for lens of eye to 20 mSv y−1, averaged over a period 5 y, with no year exceeding 50 mSv, instead current 150 y−1. This reduction will have important implications interventional cardiology and radiology (IC/IR) personnel. In this work, received by staff working in IC is studied order determine whether monitoring or/and additional radiological protection measures are required. Eye was monitored 10 physicians 6...
Radionuclide gastric emptying studies using 99m-Tc human serum albumin egg omelette have been carried out in 10 long distance runners at rest and during a 90 minute run sustained speed. Resting values are compared with controls comprising sedentary subjects. Runners show significantly accelerated basal (runners t 1/2 = 67.7 (5.9) min; sedentaries 85.3 (4.5) min, p less than 0.001). The exercise had no significant effect on these trained subjects (exercise 66.8 NS), suggesting adaptation to exercise.

A questionnaire was developed by the members of WG12 EURADOS in order to establish an overview current status eye lens radiation dose monitoring hospitals. The sent medical physicists and protection officers hospitals across Europe. Specific topics were addressed such as: knowledge proposed limit; dosimetry issues; training measures. results survey highlighted that new limit can be exceeded interventional radiology procedures is crucial. Personnel should properly trained how use protective...

This report was commissioned by the IRPA President to provide an assessment of impact on members Associate Societies introduction ICRP recommendations for a reduced dose limit lens eye. The summarises current practice and considers possible changes that may be required. Recommendations further collaboration, clarification working practices are suggested.
In the context of decrease in eye lens dose limit for occupational exposure to 20 mSv per year stated by recent revision European Basic Safety Standards Directive 2013/59/EURATOM, Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) has organised 2014, first time, an intercomparison exercise dosemeters. The main objective was assess capabilities passive dosemeters currently use Europe monitoring medical fields. A total individual services from 15 different countries have participated. provided participants...
