The phytochemical content and the antioxidant activity in inflorescences of six industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) genotypes, four monoecious (Codimono, Carmaleonte, Futura 75, Santhica 27), two dioecious (Fibrante Carmagnola Selezionata), were assessed for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020. total phenolic content, flavonoid determined by spectrophotometric measurements, whereas HPLC GC/MS used identify quantify compounds, terpenes, cannabinoids, tocopherols, phytosterols. All...

The present study was carried out with the aim of (i) evaluating effect chitosan (CTS) on growth durum wheat under salinity and (ii) examining CTS-regulated mechanisms tolerance associated antioxidant defense system. To achieve these goals, seedlings were treated CTS at different molecular weight, low (L-CTS, 50-190 kDa), medium (M-CTS, 190-310 kDa) high (H-CTS, 310-375 kDa). results obtained show that exposure to 200 mM NaCl reduced shoot root dried biomass by 38% 59%, respectively....

In order to gain a first insight into the alternative oxidase (AO) function in durum wheat mitochondria (DWM), we investigated some activation pathways of this enzyme DWM purified from both etiolated shoots and green leaves. AO was activated when were added with either pyruvate, known as an activator other plant mitochondria, or alanine plus 2-oxoglutarate, which can generate intramitochondrial pyruvate glutamate via transamination. contrast, no activity observed during oxidation malate...

Abstract Background The yellow colour of pasta products is one the main criteria used by consumers to assess quality. This character due presence carotenoid pigments in semolina. During processing, oxidative degradation occurs mainly lipoxygenase (LOX). In durum wheat ( Triticum Desf.), two Lpx-1 genes have been identified on chromosome 4B, Lpx-B1.1 and Lpx-B1.2 , evidences reported that deletion associated with a strong reduction LOX activity present study, we characterised Lpx-B1 gene...

The effect of free fatty acids (FFAs) and acyl-CoA esters on K+ uptake was studied in mitochondria isolated from durum wheat (Triticum Desf.), a species that has adapted well to the semi-arid Mediterranean area possessing highly active mitochondrial ATP-sensitive channel (PmitoKATP), may confer resistance environmental stresses. This made by swelling experiments KCl solution under experimental conditions which PmitoKATP activity monitored. Linoleate other FFAs (laurate, palmitate, stearate,...

Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is receiving increasing attention for its multiple end-uses; therefore, an improvement in production needed to meet the increased demand. In present study, effect of seed inoculation with two Trichoderma afroharzianum strains, T-AA and T-22, on plant growth root morphology plants at sixth-leaf (S6) tenth-leaf (S10) stages was assessed consecutive years (2020 2021). addition, ability strains enhance accumulation phenolic compounds leaves also evaluated....

The feasibility of using a combination organic fertilizer with reduced rate chemical nitrogen as an alternative to conventional inorganic fertilization was tested on the growth and biomass accumulation hemp plants phytochemical in their inflorescences. To achieve this goal, field experiment set up following nine treatments: F0, no fertilizer; NPK, mineral 100 kg ha−1 nitrogen; C1, compost from solid digestate (50%) + cardoon-based spent mushroom substrate (50%); C2, straw-based C3, C4, C5,...

ABSTRACT The plant uncoupling mitochondrial protein (PUMP) and the potassium channel (PmitoK ATP ) are two recently discovered energy‐dissipating systems present in mitochondria, which may play a role as defence under environmental stress. To verify whether hyperosmotic stress affects dissipating durum wheat ( Triticum Desf.), their functioning was studied early etiolated seedlings maintained moderate severe salt (NaCl) osmotic (mannitol) As measures of integrity, membrane potential...

Seawater stress effects on mitochondrial ATP synthesis and membrane potential (ΔΨ) were investigated in germinating durum wheat seedlings under moderate (22% seawater osmolarity, -0.62 MPa) severe (37% -1.04 stress. To estimate the osmotic component of salt stress, mannitol solutions (0.25 0.42 m) iso-osmotic with saline ones used. Moderate intensity only delayed mean germination time (MGT), whereas higher osmolarity reduced percentage as well. In contrast, Na+ Cl- accumulation showed a...

Phospholipases A2 (PLA2s) are known to mediate signaling cascades during plant growth and development, as well biotic abiotic stress responses. In this context, the present study provides extensive characterization of specific PLA2s in durum wheat, assesses their involvement wheat response drought stress. leaves, four full-length expressed sequences encoding putative were isolated characterized belonging class secretory (sPLA2s): TdsPLA2I, TdsPLA2II, TdsPLA2III TdsPLA2IV. To date, the existence of plant inner membrane anion channel (PIMAC) has been shown only in potato mitochondria, but its physiological role remains unclear. In this study, by means swelling experiments K+ and ammonium salts, we characterize a PIMAC-like anion-conducting pathway mitochondria from durum wheat (DWM), monocotyledonous species phylogenetically far potato. DWM were investigated since they possess very active potassium (PmitoKATP), so implying matching uniport and, possibly,...
