Acute lung injury (ALI) is a frequent, but severe complication following sepsis in patients with critical illness. The present study aimed to investigate the potential role of microRNA-21 (miR-21) regulation inflammation ALI induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) vitro and vivo. levels inflammatory cytokines, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β IL-10, level miR-21 expression were measured lungs LPS-induced rats NR8383 alveolar macrophages (AMs). To confirm regulatory effect...
The lack of appropriate tumor models primary tumors and corresponding metastases that can reliably predict for response to anticancer agents remains a major deficiency in the clinical practice cancer therapy. It was aim our study establish patient-derived tissue (PDTT) xenograft colon carcinoma with lymphatic hepatic useful testing novel molecularly targeted agents. PDTT carcinoma, were used create models. Hematoxylin eosin staining, immunohistochemical genome-wide gene expression analysis,...
Pachymic acid (PA), exacted from Polyporaceae, has been known for its biological activities including diuretic, dormitive, anti-oxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties in several types of diseases. Recently, studies have demonstrated that PA could suppress cell growth induce apoptosis different kinds cancer cells. But the underlying mechanisms remain poorly elucidated. In current study, we investigated effect pachymic on liver cells mechanisms. Our results evidenced...
The pathogenesis of intestinal carcinoma is characterized as progressing through multiple steps, which begin with atrophic gastritis followed by metaplasia, dysplasia and carcinoma. However, the clonal status gastric precancerous lesions its association proliferative kinetics have not been fully understood. In this study, normal epithelial cells were isolated from formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues using a laser capture microdissection (LCM) system, clonality was analyzed human...
Lipid storage droplet protein 5 (LSDP5) is specifically expressed in tissues with high oxidative metabolism such as liver and heart. The present study aimed to explored the role of LSDP5 sodium palmitate‑induced lipotoxicity LO2 normal human cells. cells were treated various concentrations palmitate (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 150 µmol/l) for 12, 24 48 h, cell viability was determined by Cell Counting Kit‑8. Subsequently, exposed 100 µmol/l h induce (Model). Lipotoxicity Model also transfected...
Migration of metal clips into the duodenum after laparoscopic cholecystectomy is rare. We herein present two cases migration in patients who developed upper quadrant discomfort and a poor appetite cholecystectomy. Gastroscopy revealed duodenum. In one patient, clip dropped from 2 months; other patient went to another institution undergo duodenotomy. The mechanism underlying remains unclear but might be related chronic inflammation duodenal peristalsis. conclusion, clinicians must remember...
Small bowel volvulus secondary to Meckel’s diverticulum is rare, and a delayed diagnosis results in disastrous outcomes. Computed tomography conducive early differential diagnosis. In particular, blind-ending pouch structure on CT always indicates diverticulum. Diverticulectomy with or without adjacent partial small intestinal resection the standard treatment for symptomatic However, therapy asymptomatic controversial. Here, we report case of 20-year-old man who suffered obstruction caused...
We report a case of rare bilateral massive ovarian luteinized follicular cysts in twin pregnancy. A 28-year-old, gravida 1, para 0, abortus 0 woman was incidentally found to have (left side, 12 × 10 8 cm; right 15 6 cm) during the cesarean delivery pregnancy at 36 weeks gestation. After 1,950-g and 2,350-g female babies were delivered good condition, patient received oophorectomy. Subsequent histopathology led diagnosis giant cysts.
Spontaneous rupture of a splenic artery aneurysm with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is rare condition. Splenic can be complicated by resulting in hypovolemic shock, which fatal if not treat properly. We report case 50-year-old man who presented sudden onset left upper quadrant pain and shock. This patient underwent splenectomy distal pancreatectomy. His pathological diagnosis showed hemangioendothelioma.
6053 Background: The introduction of second generation therapy has significantly improved the prognosis patients with advanced CRC. In clinical practice compared a trial setting less strict eligibility criteria are used for utilization chemotherapy. Our study aims to determine predictive factors chemotherapy in CRC era Methods: Medical records diagnosed province Saskatchewan from 1992-2005 who were treated at two major Cancer Center reviewed. A logistic regression model was assess various...
