Insect chitin was isolated from adult Holotrichia parallela by treatment with 1 M HCl and NaOH, following 1% potassium permanganate solution for decolorization. The yield of this species is 15%. This insect compared the commercial a-chitin shrimp, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, elemental analysis. Both chitins exhibited similar chemical structures physicochemical properties. Adult H. thus a promising alternative source chitin.
Although the functions of carotenogenic genes are well documented, little is known about mechanisms that regulate their expression, especially those involved in α - and β-branch carotenoid metabolism. In this study, an R2R3-MYB transcriptional factor (CrMYB68) directly regulates transformation α- carotenoids was identified using Green Ougan (MT), a stay-green mutant Citrus reticulata cv Suavissima. A comprehensive analysis developing harvested fruits indicated reduced expression β-carotene...
Abstract Although abscisic acid (ABA) is a vital regulator of fruit ripening and several transcription factors have been reported to regulate ABA biosynthesis, reports the effect on citrus regulation its biosynthesis by multiple-transcription-factor complex are scarce. In present study, systematic metabolic, cytological, transcriptome analysis an ABA-deficient mutant (MT) Citrus reticulata cv. Suavissima confirmed positive process. The profiles indicated that CrNAC036 played important role...
Dark-induced senescence provokes profound metabolic shifts to recycle nutrients and guarantee plant survival. To date, research on these processes has largely focused characterizing mutants deficient in individual pathways. Here, we adopted a time-resolved genome-wide association-based approach characterize dark-induced by evaluating the photochemical efficiency content of primary lipid metabolites at beginning, or after 3 6 days darkness. We discovered six patterns identified 215...
Abstract Plant lipids are important as alternative sources of carbon and energy when sugars or starch limited. Here, we applied combined heat darkness extended to a panel ∼300 Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) accessions study lipid remodeling under starvation. Natural allelic variation at 3-KETOACYL-COENZYME A SYNTHASE4 (KCS4), gene encoding an enzyme involved in very long chain fatty acid (VLCFA) synthesis, underlies the differential accumulation polyunsaturated triacylglycerols (puTAGs)...
Abstract Litchi is a non-climacteric subtropical fruit of high commercial value. The shelf life litchi under ambient conditions (AC) approximately 4–6 days. Post-harvest cold storage prolongs the for up to 30 days with few changes in pericarp browning and total soluble solids. However, fruits at temperatures after pre-cold (PCS) only 1–2 To better understand mechanisms involved rapid senescence induced by storage, transcriptome was constructed assemble reference genes, followed comparative...
The complete small subunit rRNA (SSU rRNA) gene sequences of five microsporidia including Nosema heliothidis, and four novel isolated from Pieris rapae, Phyllobrotica armta, Hemerophila atrilineata, Bombyx mori, respectively, were obtained by PCR amplification, cloning, sequencing. Two phylogenetic trees based on SSU had been constructed using Neighbor-Joining Phylip software UPGMA MEGA4.0 software. taxonomic status was determined analysis relationship, length, G+C content, identity,...
Fruits of Broussonetia papyrifera from South China were analyzed for their total chemical composition, and antioxidant activities in ethanol aqueous extracts. In the fruit this plant, crude protein, fat carbohydrates was 7.08%, 3.72% 64.73% dry weight, respectively. The 15.71%, 20.51% 36.09% Fatty acid amino composition analyzed. Unsaturated fatty concentration 70.6% acids. percentage essential acids (EAAs) 40.60% Furthermore, B. are rich many mineral elements vitamins. Total phenolic...
Abstract A Citrus sinensis R2R3 MYB transcription factor (CsMYB96) has previously been shown to be strongly associated with the expression of many genes related wax biosynthesis in fruit. In this study, CsMYB96 was found alleviate water loss by simultaneously regulating encoding plasma membrane intrinsic proteins (CsPIPs) and wax-related genes. Expression profiling indicated that CsPIP1;1 CsPIP2;4 had high representative other aquaporins, they were down-regulated peel post-harvest citrus...
Abstract Temperate insects have evolved diapause, a period of programmed developmental arrest during specific life stages, to survive unfavourable conditions. During the diapause preparation phase (DPP), diapause‐destined individuals generally store large amounts fat by regulating nutrition distribution for energy requirement maintenance and postdiapause development. Although nutritional patterns DPP been investigated at physiological biochemical levels in many insects, it remains largely...
Plant aquaporin proteins (AQPs) are categorized into seven distinct families, among which, plasma membrane intrinsic (PIPs) play pivotal roles in plant growth and physiological processes. In this study, we identified 11 CpPIP genes wintersweet (Chimonanthus praecox (L.) Link) based on bioinformatic characterization of gene structural organization, chromosomal localization, phylogenetic relationships. Subsequent reconstruction resolved two evolutionarily subclasses. We focused the isolation...
Fresh walnut kernel (FW) and dry (DW) are significantly different in antioxidant activity. However, the metabolomic mechanism underlying these differences remains to be explored. Here, we evaluated activities of FW DW four varieties, characterized their metabolites by GC-MS LC-MS/MS. The influence on activity was investigated through a multivariate analysis. showed higher than FW. A total 144 were detected all samples. Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated that phenolic polyunsaturated...
Abstract Cuticular wax on plant aerial surfaces plays a vital role in the defense against various stresses, and genes related to metabolism have been well documented several model plants. However, there is very limited research key enzymes transcription factors (TFs) associated with carbon chain distribution biosynthesis citrus fruit. In this study, an analysis of metabolites indicated that even carbon-chain (C24-C28) are dominant components fruit, 3-ketoacyl-CoA synthase (KCS) family gene...
