The paper reports on a study carried out to detect airgap eccentricity in large 3-phase induction motors. philosophy of using unified online monitoring strategy is presented and the reasons for selecting line current frame vibration as monitored parameters are discussed. A theoretical analysis which predicts presence unique signature patterns spectra only characteristic eccentricity. predictions verified by experimental results from special fault producing test rig on-site tests power station.

BACKGROUND. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is strongly associated with cardiovascular and there an established association between vasculopathy affecting the eye. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) a novel, rapid method for high-definition imaging of retina choroid. Its use in patients at high risk remains unexplored. METHODS. We used new SPECTRALIS OCT machine to examine retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, macular volume, choroidal thickness prospective cross-sectional study 150...

To assess the suitability of retinal images held in UK Biobank--the largest data repository a prospective population-based cohort--for computer assisted vascular morphometry, generating measures that are commonly investigated as candidate biomarkers systemic disease.Non-mydriatic fundus from both eyes 2,690 participants--people with self-reported history myocardial infarction (n=1,345) and matched control group (n=1,345)--were analysed using VAMPIRE software. These were drawn those 68,554...

Glaucoma, a chronic neurodegenerative disease, is leading cause of age-related blindness worldwide and characterized by the progressive loss retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) their axons. Previously, we developed novel epigenetic rejuvenation therapy, based on expression three transcription factors Oct4, Sox2, Klf4 (OSK), which safely rejuvenates RGCs without altering cell identity in glaucomatous old mice after 1 month treatment. In current year-long study, with continuous or cyclic OSK induced...

Melanopsin-expressing photosensitive retinal ganglion cells form a blue-light-sensitive non-visual system mediating diverse physiological effects including circadian entrainment and cognitive alertness. Reduced blue wavelength illumination through cataract formation is thought to blunt these responses while surgery intraocular lens (IOL) implantation have been shown beneficial on sleep cognition. We aimed use the reaction time (RT) task Epworth Sleepiness Score (ESS) as validated objective...

E-cigarettes (EC) are now the most popular quit aid in England but their effectiveness for cessation if offered at a pharmacy has not been tested. Here we test of offering an e-cigarette with and without nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) on 4-6-week rates adult smokers seeking support from community pharmacy. A between subject, six-week, prospective, cohort design. 115 (female = 74; M age 46.37, SD 13.56) chose either EC, EC + NRT or alone, alongside standard behavioural support. Smokers...

Pseudomyogenic hemangioendothelioma (PMH) is a rare neoplasm with vascular and sarcomatous elements, unpredictable course, uncommon metastatic or fatal potential. Although systemic chemotherapy has been reported variable success, generally accepted treatment aggressive surgery wide margins. Evidence-based options are lacking, lack of clear prognostic features poses risk undertreatment overtreatment associated morbidity mortality. We report the use initial therapy oral sirolimus (SIR) IV...

Background Optical coherence tomography (OCT) inner retinal metrics reflect neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis (MS). We explored OCT measures as biomarkers of disease severity secondary progressive MS (SPMS). Methods investigated people with SPMS from the Multiple Sclerosis-Secondary Progressive Multi-Arm Randomisation Trial substudy, analysing brain MRIs, clinical assessments and at baseline 96 weeks. measured peripapillary nerve fibre layer (pRNFL) macular ganglion cell-inner...

Purpose: To identify quantifiable markers of disease progression in patients with foveal-sparing atrophic late-onset retinal degeneration using fundus autofluorescence and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography imaging. Methods: Natural history study evaluating within a 3-year interval. Disease was assessed based on the area atrophy, macular topographic distribution lesions, choroidal thickness volume, vascularity index. Results: Twenty-four eyes (12 individuals) were included for...
