Background: Interstitial lung diseases (ILD) unresponsive to medical therapy often require transplantation (LTx), which prolongs quality of life and survival. Ideal timing for referral LTx remains challenging, with late associated significant morbidity mortality. Among other criteria, patients ILD should be considered if forced vital capacity (FVC) is less than 80% or diffusion carbon monoxide (DLCO) 40%. However, data on rates are lacking. Objectives: To evaluate based pulmonary function...
Abstract We report 8 cases of persistent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia in patients previously treated with anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. Polymerase chain reaction nasopharyngeal swabs for SARS-CoV-2 was negative most cases; viral cell cultures confirmed that viable SARS-Co-2 virus present. Four were anti-SARS-CoV-2 hyperimmune globulins rapid resolution disease.
Abstract Background Methacholine challenge tests (MCTs) are used to diagnose airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) in patients with suspected asthma where previous diagnostic testing has been inconclusive. The test is time consuming and usually requires referral specialized centers. Simple methods predict AHR could help determine which should be referred MCTs, thus avoiding unnecessary testing. Here we investigated the potential use of baseline spirometry variables as surrogate markers for adults...
Severe respiratory failure caused by COVID-19 often requires mechanical ventilation, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In rare cases, lung transplantation (LTx) may be considered as a last resort. However, uncertainties remain about patient selection and optimal timing for referral listing. This retrospective study analyzed patients with severe who were supported veno-venous ECMO listed LTx between July 2020 June 2022. Out of the 20 in population, four underwent excluded....
Clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis is an uncommon autoimmune disorder in the Middle East. The clinical picture of clinically characterized mainly by pulmonary and dermatological manifestations. Occasionally muscle symptoms are observed as well. Serum anti-MDA5 autoantibody positivity associated with rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease among patients. Moreover, high serum ferritin level correlated poor prognosis mortality. Herein we describe case Israeli patient without...
