One hundred forty-two women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) an average body mass index (BMI) of 29.1 kg/m(2) and age 25.12 years were studied. By BMI, 30.2% normal, 38.0% overweight 31.6% obese. Thirty-one eumenorrheic matched for BMI age, no evidence hyperandrogenism, recruited as controls. The incidence dyslipidemia in the PCOS group was twice that Control (76.1% versus 32.25%). most frequent abnormalities low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C; 57.6%) high triglyceride (TG)...

The presence of virilizing signs associated with high serum androgen levels in postmenopausal women is rare. Virilizing ovarian tumors (VOTs) and stromal hyperthecosis (OH) are the most common etiologies virilized women. differential diagnosis between these two conditions often difficult. To evaluate contribution clinical features, hormonal profiles radiological studies to VOT OH.A retrospective study.A tertiary center.Clinical data, status (T, E2, LH FSH), pelvic images (transvaginal...

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence metabolic syndrome in women with polycystic ovary syndrome, as well its characteristics and predictors. Seventh-three women, body mass index 30.4 +/- 7.8 kg/m2 25.0 6.0 years old, subdivided according index, were studied retrospectively. There no significant mean age difference among groups (p = 0.228). Prevalence 38.4%, a null for normal (n 18), 23.8% overweight 17), 62.9% obese 28), 85.5% morbidly 7). Women older than without (27.3 5.3...

Patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) present a higher risk for abnormalities of glucose metabolism (AGM). For to study this in our population, we submitted 85 patients, body mass index (BMI) 28.5 +/- 6.6 kg/m(2) and aged 25.5 5.4 years old, an oral tolerance test (OGTT), assessed the impact BMI on prevalence impaired (IGT) diabetes mellitus (DM). The states were classified considering fasting plasma (FPG) according American Diabetes Association (ADA) criterion at 120 minutes Word...

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and obesity on vascular parameters related early atherosclerosis (VP-EA) [brachial flow-mediated dilation (FMD), carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) arterial compliance (CAC)] in women with minor cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs). Twenty-five young PCOS 23 eumenorrheic matched for body mass index (BMI) were studied. subdivided according BMI status, comparisons done between Control group, regardless BMI,...

As there is controversy about the prevalence of hypertension in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and, up to present moment, no studies have evaluated impact body mass index (BMI) on blood pressure levels (BP) these patients, we studied retrospectively sixty-nine PCOS, BMI 29.0 +/- 6.7 kg/m(2) and aged 25.6 +/-5.6 yr, subdivided into three groups according (normal, overweight obese) regarding BP (mercury sphygmomanometer), basal hormonal profile, fasting glucose, insulin...

To analyze the performance of basal 17OH-progesterone (17OHP) levels versus 17OHP/cortisol ratio in nonclassical congenital adrenal hyperplasia (NCAH) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) differential diagnosis. Basal 17OHP >10 ng/mL have been used to confirm NCAH diagnosis without adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) test; however, optimal cutoff value is a matter debate.A cross-sectional study was performed at endocrinology gynecological outpatient clinics tertiary hospital. Data on prevalence of metabolic risk factors in hyperandrogenic postmenopausal women are limited. Also, the correlation between disorders and androgen excess this scenario is poorly understood. We aimed to assess obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes (T2D), dyslipidemia (DLP) with hyperandrogenism ovarian origin before after surgical normalization testosterone (T) levels, as well impact body mass index (BMI), glucose, lipid metabolism.Retrospective study.Tertiary health center.Twenty-four...
