本論文では, 自動車の進行方向の速度変動に起因する乗り心地に関して検討する. 自動車走行中に伴う速度変動に対して, 乗り心地評定実験を行い, 乗り心地評定値と速度変動を表す諸物理量との関連を検討した. 進行方向の加速度およびジャークを説明変量とし, 被験者の乗り心地評定値を目的変量として, これらを関係付ける線形重回帰モデルを構築し, 客観的な乗り心地指数を定式化することを試みた. その結果, 実験より得られた被験者の乗り心地評定値と構築したモデルより推定した乗り心地指数との間に高い相関があり, 提案した線形重回帰モデルを用いた乗り心地評価の手法が有効であることが確認された. こうした研究を進めることにより, 乗り心地を規定する物理的情報をある種の乗り心地指数として運転者にフィードバックすることで運転手の運転手法を改善し, 乗客に優しい運転が実現できることが期待される.
