The chloroplast is the main organelle for stress-induced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, how chloroplastic ROS homeostasis maintained under salt stress largely unknown. We show that EGY3, a gene encoding chloroplast-localized protein, induced by and oxidative stresses. loss EGY3 function causes hypersensitivity while overexpression increases tolerance to both interacts with Cu/Zn-SOD2 (CSD2) promotes CSD2 stability conditions. In egy3-1 mutant plants, degradation limits...
Core Ideas The benefits of adopting precision farming technology was investivated in scheduling fungicide applications to manage potato late blight. is the preferred method schedule terms disease suppression, net return per 0.41 ha, and risk‐adjusted return. increased adoption would help blight, limit potential crop losses, improve returns. Precision agriculture has emerged as a revolutionary technology, which transforms related data into useful information for agricultural decision‐making....
Clathrin-mediated vesicular formation and trafficking are responsible for molecular cargo transport signal transduction among organelles. Our previous study shows that CHLOROPLAST VESICULATION (CV)-containing vesicles (CVVs) generated from chloroplasts chloroplast degradation under abiotic stress. Here, we show CV interacts with the clathrin heavy chain (CHC) induces vesicle budding toward cytosol inner envelope membrane. In defective mutants of CHC2 dynamin-encoding DRP1A, CVV releasing...
Abstract Background Light provides the energy for photosynthesis and determines plant morphogenesis development. Low light compromises photosynthetic efficiency leads to crop yield loss. It remains unknown how rice responds low stress at a proteomic level. Results In this study, quantitative analysis with isobaric tags relative absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) was used 1221 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were identified from wild type plants grown in control or condition (17%...
Traditional villages in the Yellow River Basin of China are vital carriers cultural heritage, ecological sustainability, and socio-economic development. This study employs spatial econometric analysis to examine distribution patterns influencing factors 888 traditional region. The findings reveal a clustering pattern, with high-density areas Shanxi medium-density clusters Shaanxi Qinghai, while northern southern regions remain sparse. Over time, center village has shifted along...
Enormous quantities of data are generated through social and online media in the era Web 2.0. Understanding consumer perceptions or demand efficiently cost effectively remains a focus for economists, retailer/consumer sciences, production industries. Most efforts to understand food products rely on reports past market performance along with survey data. Given movement content-generation lay users via media, potential capture market-influencing shifts sentiment exists This analysis presents...
Salt-alkali stress threatens the resilience to variable environments and thus grain yield of rice. However, how rice responds salt-alkali at molecular level is poorly understood. Here, we report isolation a novel salt-alkali-tolerant (SATR) by screening more than 700 germplasm accessions. Using 93-11, widely grown cultivar, as control, characterized SATR in response strong (SSAS). exhibited SSAS tolerance higher indicated survival rate, associated with peroxidase activity total soluble sugar...
Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 (Pst DC3000) is able to infect many economically important crops and thus causes substantial losses in the global agricultural economy. Pst can be divided into virulent lines avirulent lines. For instance, pathogen effector avrRPM1 of line Pst-avrRpm1 avrRpm1) recognized detoxified by plant. To further compare pathogenicity mechanisms DC3000, a comprehensive analysis acetylome succinylome Arabidopsis thaliana was conducted following infection with...
Abstract Adoption of soil conservation practices has been promoted to improve environmental and economic benefits across the United States. These are especially necessary for health improvement in Southern High Plains where soils prone erosion agricultural irrigation relies heavily on groundwater. Winter cover crops no‐till cropping two reducing erosion, but producers might face additional risks associated with adopting these practices. The objective this study was examine profitability...
Precision agriculture technology can transform farming related data into useful information, which may lead to more efficient usage of agricultural resources and increase sustainability. This paper compares precision with traditional practices in scheduling fungicide application so as manage late blight disease tomato production. The following three strategies were evaluated: a calendar-based strategy, the BlightPro Decision Support System based strategy (DSS-based strategy), that does not...
Grain shape is a critical agronomic trait affecting grain yield and quality. Exploration functional characterization of shape-related genes will facilitate rice breeding for higher quality yield. Here, we characterized recessive mutant named Oat-like its unique which highly resembles oat grains. The displayed abnormal floral organs, an open hull formed by remarkably elongated leafy lemmas paleae, occasionally conjugated twin brown rice, aberrant low seed setting rate. By map-based cloning,...
Abstract Winter cover crop and no‐till are two promising conservation practices to reduce soil erosion promote long‐term sustainability. This research evaluates the net returns of different tillage methods five treatments in dryland cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.) production identifies risk‐efficient management practices. Four‐year field experiments (2013−2016) were conducted for a continuous system under conventional without crop, as well with crops including winter wheat Triticum aestivum...
US cotton producers are motivated to optimize planter performance ensure timely and uniform stand establishment early in the season, especially when planting sub-optimal field conditions. Field studies were conducted 2017, 2018 2019 evaluate effect of seeding depth downforce on crop emergence yield planted different soil moisture conditions representative dry, normal wet attained by applying 0, 1.27 2.54 cm irrigation within same field. Two cultivars (representing a small-seeded large-seeded...
A Chinese import tariff on U.S. cotton could cause near-term market disruptions. But, recent history shows that policy interventions have caused only a “reshuffling” in global trade. Such an outcome minimize the longer-term impacts of potential exports.
Abstract A shift to more ecologically based farming practices would improve the sustainability and economic stability of agricultural systems. Habitat management in around fields can provide stable environments that aid proliferation natural enemy communities moderate pest populations injury. Winter cover crops offer a potentially cost-effective approach improving habitat supports early growing season. We investigated effects winter including cereal rye ( Secale L.) crimson clover Trifolium...
Stochastic dominance, stochastic dominance with respect to a function, and efficiency function are used compare late blight management strategies between calendar spray schedule recommended by Potato/Tomato Late Blight Decision Support System (DSS). Results show that the DSS is more effective strategy for controlling in terms of disease control, net income over fungicide cost, risk-adjusted income. The value added ranges from $30 $544 per acre. Our research contributes literature providing...
This study used experimental data from West Lafayette, Indiana to examine the economic benefits of applying fungicide corn. The average improvements in yield, gross revenue, and net return (gross revenue minus application cost) were 4 bushels per acre, $19 -$9 respectively. Stochastic dominance was compare treatments a no alternative. Individual fungicides part stochastic efficient sets. However, with recent corn prices, improvement yields would not be high enough make individual economically viable.
Natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and droughts often cause significant economic damages for agricultural producers agribusinesses. Agricultural economics departments colleges of agriculture are asked to help compute losses resulting from events. The loss estimates used lobby various forms disaster relief show that regions, states, or commodities eligible existing government programs. This paper documents how economists their colleagues at University Georgia went about estimating...
