ST2 is an interleukin (IL)-1 receptor family member with membrane-bound (ST2L) and soluble (sST2) isoforms, sST2 a biomarker for poor outcome in patients myocardial infarction (MI). IL-33, the recently discovered ligand ST2, activates nuclear factor kappaB thus may regulate apoptotic cell death. We tested hypothesis that IL-33 cardioprotective after MI through signaling.IL-33 protected cultured cardiomyocytes from hypoxia-induced apoptosis, this cardioprotection was partially inhibited by...

Tissue eosinophilia is often found in the inflammatory lesions of bullous perphigoid. A study made on naturally occurring eosinophil chemotactic activity blister fluids four pemphigoid patients revealed existence this all them. Sephadex G-25 column chromatography showed that greater part was composed low molecular substance which weight close to vitamin B12 (m.w. 1357). The and sera these contained elevated levels IgE. An IgE anti-skin basement, membrane antibody two if sera, deposits were...

A characteristic feature of tissue resident human mast cells (MCs) is their hTryptase-β-rich cytoplasmic granules. Mouse MC protease-6 (mMCP-6) the ortholog hTryptase-β, and we have shown that this tetramer-forming tryptase has beneficial roles in innate immunity but adverse inflammatory disorders like experimental arthritis. Because key factors control expression MCs not been identified, investigated mechanisms by which fibroblasts mediate granule accumulation mMCP-6. Immature mouse bone...

Chronic stress-induced depressive-like behavior is relevant to inflammatory immune activation. However, the neurobiological alterations in brain following central activation remain elusive. Therefore, we investigated during induced mice by systemic administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 1.2mg/kg administered twice at a 30-min interval via intraperitoneal injection). At 24h after second LPS, an increased immobility time tail suspension test and forced swimming were observed, as well...

1. To investigate the mechanisms for coding stimulus sequence in auditory cortex (AC), post-tetanic potentiation (PTP) was recorded after sequentially combined heterosynaptic stimulation applied rat AC slices. 2. Brief tetanic (TS) at two sites on slices intervals of 0.5-10 s. PTP field potentials induced by earlier TS, rather than later TS. followed sequence-dependent long-term (LTP). 3. Using Ca(2+) imaging loaded with rhod-2, a indicator, distribution found 4. The excitatory postsynaptic...

Anhedonia is a core symptom of social defeat stress (SDS)-induced depression associated with the reward system. We previously reported that decreased membrane-bound AMPA-GluR1 in system lipopolysaccharide-induced anhedonia-like symptoms. Since group I metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) activation reduces surface density GluR1, we examined whether mGluR-dependent decrease GluR1 involved SDS-induced Mice exposed to SDS for 4 consecutive days had markedly and GluR2 prefrontal cortex (PFC)...

Oxytocin (OT) has been detected in mammalian granulosa-luteal cells during the early stages. The purpose of this study was to explore gene expressions OT and receptor (OTR) human cumulus cells. Cumulus enclosing a mature oocyte were obtained from 6 women undergoing clinical vitro fertilization embryo transfer programs. OTR investigated by employing reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction reaction/single-strand conformation polymorphism methods. expression positive 5 weakly remaining...

Abstract A 74‐year‐old Japanese male had developed generalized erythroderma and rapid growth of multiple verrucous lesions over the entire surface his face, trunk, extremities three months before he was seen. Histologically seborrheic keratoses were revealed. Laboratory examinations showed peripheral leukocytosis with atypical lymphocytes high levels IgE IgG. On basis these clinical histopathologic findings, we diagnosed patient as having Leser‐Trélat sign associated Sézary syndrome. The...

Hyperactivity of amygdala is observed in patients with major depressive disorder. Although the role α 1 -adrenoceptor on fear memory has been well studied, depression-like behaviors remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated effect 1A -adrenoreceptor despair behavior, evaluated by immobility time during tail suspension test (TST), pharmacological intervention, and immunohistological methods. C57BL6/J mice given a bilateral intra-amygdala injection artificial cerebrospinal fluid exhibited an...

Abstract A child's head‐sized tumor on the upper back developed in a 43‐year‐old man. In spite of an extensive operation for tumor, he died multiple metastasis 15 months after operation. Histologically, cells proliferated throughout dermal and subcutaneous regions, boxed‐in appearance was noted with silver staining. Because electron microscopic observations strongly suggested smooth muscle origin, we diagnosed this case as cutaneous leiomyosarcoma.

Traumatic events frequently produce false fear memories. We investigated the effect of hypothalamic corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) knockdown (Hy-Crf-KD) or overexpression (Hy-CRF-OE) on contextual memory, as stress-released CRF and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis activation affects memory system. Mice were placed in a chamber with an electric footshock conditioning stimulus (CS) Context A, then exposed to novel without CS, B, at 3 h (B-3h) 24 (B-24h). The freezing response B-3h was...
