Due to significant advances in instrumentation, many previously specialized techniques have become “routine” user facilities. However, detailed knowledge held by experts has often not been relayed general users, so they rely on entry-level information, basic principles, and comparison with literature results for data analysis. As a result, major errors the analysis of multiple surface material techniques, including x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), appearing scientific literature....

[structure: see text] The new BIPI ligands are phosphinoimidazolines that can be electronically tuned in three different ligand regions to explore electronic effects asymmetric catalysis. Their application the Heck reaction (AHR) creation of a chiral quaternary center is described. Enantioselectivity shown for first time depend linearly on phosphine electron density. Changing basicity by variation R(2) or R(3) substituents reverses facial selectivity.

Tracking dynamic cellular processes necessitates fluorescent materials that are photostable, biocompatible, water-soluble, nanosized, and nontoxic. In this study, highly carbon dots (CDs) were produced from cheap readily available sources, citric acid (CA) Philippine citrus (Citrus japonica Thunb.) or calamansi juice (CJ) via a microwave-assisted method. A number of synthetic conditions investigated systematically to optimize the preparation CDs CA CJ. The formation mechanism, surface...

Sphinganines can be synthesized in just three steps from easily prepared serine-derived Weinreb amide 4. Pre-deprotonation of the acidic (N-H and O-H) protons 4 allows for its efficient conversion to amino ketones 5. Such selectively reduced either erythro- or threo-sphinganines. Partially protected sphinganines 11 are also readily accessible five Thus, represents one most versatile templates described date sphinganine synthesis.

A new water soluble cationic polythiophene derivative, poly(N,N,N-trimethyl-3-(2-(thiophen-3-yl)acetamido)propan-1-aminium iodide), was synthesized via two consecutive post-polymerization functionalizations of poly(methyl 2-(thiophen-3-yl)acetate). This conjugated polymer binds DNA at N/P = 5 and forms polyplexes 10. Its potential use as a theranostic gene delivery vehicle is investigated here.

The Boehringer-Ingelheim phosphinoimidazoline (BIPI) ligands were applied to the formation of chiral quaternary centers in asymmetric Heck reaction. Several different substrates examined detail, using more than 70 members this new ligand class. Hammett relationships determined through systematic variation electronics. All showed essentially same behavior, where enantioselectivity increased as made electron-deficient. Ligand optimization has led catalysts which give highest...

ABSTRACT Due to the toxicity associated with exposure organochlorine pesticides, new materials capable of selectively capturing and detecting these compounds are highly desirable. In this study, imprinted polymers were prepared using three pesticides—dieldrin (DE), endosulfan (EN), or hexachlorobenzene (HCB) as templates. The MIPs polymerized via precipitation polymerization. yields over 90% particle sizes ranging from 62 214 nm. Binding studies combined GC‐ECD analysis showed that each...
