The use of a new indicator culture medium, Belo Horizonte is proposed for better colony recognition and presumptive identification Campylobacter pylori. This containing brain heart infusion sheep blood agar, was supplemented with 40 mg 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride per liter in addition to vancomycin, nalidixic acid, amphotericin B. On pylori present unique golden colonies.

A new Helicobacter species that colonizes the colonic mucosa of Wistar and Holtzman rats was isolated characterized. This bacterium gram negative, its cells were rod shaped with pointed ends, protoplasmic cylinder entwined periplasmic fibers. It catalase oxidase positive, rapidly hydrolyzed urea, susceptible to metronidazole resistant cephalothin nalidixic acid. The organism microaerophilic grew at 42°C, a feature differentiates it from two other murine intestine colonizers, hepaticus...

Summary The ultrastructural features of a helical-shaped bacterium occurring inthe stomach pigs, within the mucus on mucosal surface antral pits, were examined. bacterial cell had three to eight spiral turns, flattened and truncated ends was approximately 4.0 μm long 0.6 wide.In some sections, up six flagella, about 22 nm in diameter, were seen arising from each pole. cytoplasm contained sparse, irregular granules, numerous ribosomes large single-layered membrane-bound granules. In flagella...

Summary Tightly spiralled bacteria ("Gastrospirillum suis") were seen in the pyloric mucosa of stomach 13 (10.8%) 120 pigs that appeared clinically healthy at slaughter and fundic three (5.0%) out 60 pigs. The spiral organism could not be cultured from any pig. Chronic gastritis was observed 53 (44.2%) 7 (11.7%) with region comprised one animal (7.7%) normal mucosa, two (15.4%) "borderline gastritis", 10 (76.9%) chronic gastritis–in instance accompanied by signs activity (numerous...

This paper reports a suitable piezoresistive carbon nanotube (CNT)/PVDF composite capable of measuring the interface pressure within prosthetic stump/sockets. The transducers were prepared by hot pressing with CNTs sample concentrations up to 10 wt.%. sensibility (Gauge factor) composites was characterized using mechanical testing equipment and values reached 6.2. After optimization materials, tests conducted prototype placed in lower limb amputee patients, performing several standing...

Individuals with transfemoral amputation must adapt their gait to the absence of one natural limb, causing an impact throughout body. A better understanding these changes would provide safer and more efficient development prevention rehabilitation strategies. The aim this study was compare center pressure (CoP) variables between amputated limb sound subjects able-bodied during gait. FootScan plate (RsScan, Olen, Belgium) used record CoP motion 14 individuals (56.7 ± 11.7 years old) 21...

An enzyme isotopic assay was used to determine the histamine concentration in gastric mucosa of patients positive for Helicobacter pylori with (n = 11) and without duodenal ulceration 9) negative controls 7). A significant difference observed when content H subjects compared that patients. On other hand, there no between those ulceration. had significantly lower concentrations than subjects. The might be due increased release which could turn induce acid secretion.

Summary To establish an experimental model to study gastric spiral non-cultivable bacteria, 30 4-week-old female CFW (LOB) mice were inoculated with porcine mucus containing “Gastrospirillum suis” and 25 without “G. suis”. Mice examined 3, 7, 14, 21, 28 60 days after inoculation. Fragments from the membranous, oxyntic antral mucosa duodenal obtained for histological microbiological analysis. Tightly spiralled bacteria seen in smears sections of all G. suis-infected mice. The pre-formed...
