Study Design. A cross-sectional analysis was performed in a group of women meeting strict criteria for posterior pelvic pain since pregnancy (PPPP). The scores on the Active Straight Leg Raise Test (ASLR test) were compared with healthy controls. Objectives. To develop new diagnostic instrument use patients PPPP. objectives present study to assess validity and reliability ASLR test. Summary Background Data. Various tools are used diagnose PPPP, but there is still need simple tests high...
Study Design. An analysis was made of the self-reported medical histories patients with peripartum pelvic pain. Objectives. To compile an inventory disabilities pain, analyze factors associated risk for development disease, and to formulate a hypothesis on pathogenesis specific preventive therapeutic measures. Summary Background Data. Pregnancy is important factor chronic low back Understanding pain during pregnancy delivery could be useful in understanding managing nonspecific Methods. By...
Study Design. A cross-sectional analysis was performed with a group of women meeting strict criteria for posterior pelvic pain after pregnancy. The active straight leg raise test and common severity measurement scales lumbopelvic were scored. Objective. To assess the validity as disease scale patients Summary Background Data. Various diagnostic tools are used to measure in pregnancy, but simple tests high reliability still needed. Methods. investigation 200 who had investigated by comparing...
Aim To investigate the prevalence and co‐occurrence of chronic pain, fatigue, depressive symptoms in adults with spastic bilateral cerebral palsy (SBCP) explore associations pain fatigue daily functioning. Method Fifty‐six SBCP without severe cognitive impairment participated (35 males, 21 females; mean age 36y 5mo, SD 5y 10mo; Gross Motor Function Classification System level I [13], II [28], III [11], IV [4]). Chronic (>3mo), severity nature (Fatigue Severity Scale; Multidimensional...
Purpose. To describe the level of functioning adolescents and young adults with cerebral palsy (CP) study determinants their functioning.Method. In CP Transition study, aged 16 – 20 years, diagnosed without severe learning disabilities (n = 103) participated. this group we assessed subject characteristics, i.e., age, type CP, gross motor function (GMFCS), education as well outcome measures on in daily activities social participation (Life Habits questionnaire, Vineland Adaptive Behavior...
Objective: To investigate the effects of balance training, using force platform biofeedback, on quantitative gait characteristics hemiparetic patients late after stroke. Design: Randomized, controlled, assessor-blinded trial. Setting: Rehabilitation ward and laboratory a university hospital. Subjects: Forty-one (mean (standard deviation; SD) age 60.9 (11.7) years) with hemiparesis stroke (median time since six months) were randomly assigned to an experimental or control group. Interventions:...
To determine the most important barriers to and facilitators of level everyday physical activity in persons with a spinal cord injury after discharge from rehabilitation centre.Qualitative study both cross-sectional retrospective questions.Thirty-two injury.Semi-structured interview questions concerning current situation (>9 months discharge) period shortly (=3 months). The consisted 10 topic categories assumed have an impact on covering main parts International Classification Functioning,...
To explore the main barriers to and facilitators of physical activity in young adults with childhood-onset disabilities.Qualitative study using focus groups.Sixteen persons (12 men 4 women) aged 22.4 (standard deviation 3.4) years, whom 50% were wheelchair-dependent, participated study. Eight diagnosed myelomeningocele, cerebral palsy, 2 acquired brain injury rheumatoid arthritis.Three group sessions 1.5 h conducted a semi-structured question route assess perceived activity. Tape recordings...
Limitation in daily physical activity is one of the reasons for total hip arthroplasty (THA) or knee (TKA). However, studies effects THA TKA generally do not determine actual as part functioning. We determined effect on patients' and body function (pain, stiffness), capacity to perform tasks, self-reported also assessed whether there are differences surgery between patients undergoing improvements vary these different outcome measures. recruited with long-standing end-stage osteoarthritis...
beta-Blocker use is associated with improved health outcomes in patients cardiovascular disease. There a general reluctance to prescribe beta-blockers chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) because they may worsen symptoms. We investigated the relationship between cardioselective and mortality COPD undergoing major vascular surgery. We evaluated 3,371 consecutive who underwent surgery at one academic institution 1990 2006. The were divided into those without on basis of symptoms...
Aim To investigate the neuronal basis for effects of mirror therapy in patients with stroke. Methods 22 stroke participated this study. The authors used functional MRI to activation patterns two experiments. In unimanual experiment, moved their unaffected hand, either while observing it directly (no-mirror condition) or its reflection (mirror condition). bimanual both hands, affected hand place A two-factorial analysis movement (activity vs rest) and no mirror) as main factors was performed...
Stroke is one of the leading causes long-term disability in modern western countries. survivors often have functional limitations which might lead to a vicious circle reduced physical activity, deconditioning and further deterioration. Current evidence suggests that routine moderate- or vigorous-intensity activity essential for maintenance improvement health among stroke survivors. Nevertheless, participation activities low people with disabilities. Active video games, such as Nintendo Wii...
Many patients with Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) experience excessive fatigue, which may persist for years reduce quality of life. The authors performed a 12-week study bicycle exercise training in 20 severe 16 relatively good recovery from GBS, 4 stable CIDP. Training seemed well tolerated, self-reported fatigue scores decreased 20% (<i>p</i> = 0.001). Physical fitness, functional outcome, life were improved.
