Mussel-inspired chemistry, particularly the versatile coating capability of polydopamine (PDA), has received much research interest as a promising strategy for fabricating functional coatings in numerous fields. However, understanding deposition mechanisms and adhesion behaviors PDA on different substrates still remains incomplete, significantly limiting related fundamental its practical applications. In this work, colloidal probe atomic force spectroscopy technique was employed to quantify...

Injectable self-healing hydrogels, as implanted materials, have received great attention over the past decades. The tunable optical and mechanical properties well ability to lower risk of inflammatory responses are essential considerations for their applications in diverse bioengineering processes. In this work, we report a novel injectable hydrogel with optical, mechanical, antimicrobial properties, fabricated by multifunctional ABA triblock copolymer gelator, poly{(4-formylphenyl...

A facile and scalable polyzwitterion-polydopamine coating strategy has been developed to functionalize substrates sponges. This approach, for the first time, achieves superior regenerable underwater self-cleaning of stubborn asphaltenes-containing heavy oil fouling without pre-hydration removal water residues from oil, with significant implications in many engineering environmental processes.

Nanocage structures derived from sulfated β-cyclodextrin (SCD) intercalated MgAl layered double hydroxides (MgAl-NO3 LDHs) were prepared through ion-exchange reactions. Coprecipitation method was used to prepare the composites of magnetic Fe3O4@sulfonated LDH (Fe/SCD-LDH), which demonstrated having an efficient adsorption capability cationic pollutants and excellent reuseability. X-ray diffraction Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed that SCD successfully basal spacing expanded...

Probing the interaction mechanism between organic molecules and material surfaces in presence of metal ions is great importance many fields, such as mineral flotation. The collectability benzohydroxamic acid (BHA) to a spodumene (LiAl(SiO3)2) surface during flotation could be enhanced with addition ion activators—Pb2+ ions. Pb2+ added either Pb–BHA complex formed by premixing BHA at given ratio or sequential molecules. However, complete understanding mechanisms (e.g., adhesion) remains very...

Mussel-inspired polydopamine (PDA) deposition provides a prominent approach for constructing functional coatings, which has received much research interest over the past decade. However, large PDA aggregates often formed and precipitated from solution during process, significantly lowering utilization efficiency of dopamine surface modification. It is both fundamental practical importance to "reactivate" reuse achieve higher usage in modifications. In this work, we report facile,...
