To update the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) recommendations for vaccination in adult patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRD) published 2011. Four systematic literature reviews were performed regarding incidence/prevalence of vaccine-preventable infections among AIIRD; efficacy, immunogenicity and safety vaccines; effect anti-rheumatic drugs on response to household AIIRDs patients. Subsequently, formulated based evidence expert opinion. The updated...

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the working hypothesis that common infections occurring early in life prevent atopy. Design: Cross sectional, retrospective study of young Italian men with results for hepatitis A serology and Setting: Air force school military students Caserta, Italy. Subjects: 1659 male aged 17-24, most whom (90%) were from central southern Main outcome measures: Skin sensitisation specific IgE antibodies to locally relevant...
A certain number of studies were carried out to address the question how dysbiosis could affect onset and development rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but little is known about reciprocal influence between microbiota composition immunosuppressive drugs, this interaction may have an impact on clinical outcome. The aim study was characterize intestinal in a groups RA patients treatment-naïve, under methotrexate, and/or etanercept (ETN). Correlations gut validated immunological parameters disease...
Objectives. To determine whether tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α blockers may reduce carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) steadily responsive to such therapy. Methods. From 287 consecutive RA attending our out-patient clinic and diagnosed on the basis of American College Rheumatology (ACR) criteria, 49 without traditional cardiovascular risk factors meeting requirements for TNF-α therapy were selected. Among them, 39 actually started...
Objectives The aims of this study were to update the evidence on incidence and prevalence rates vaccine preventable infections (VPI) in patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRD) compare data general population when available. Methods A literature search was performed using Medline, Embase Cochrane library (October 2009 August 2018). primary outcome or VPI adult AIIRD population. Meta-analysis appropriate. Results Sixty-three publications out 3876 identified records met...
One-hundred and twenty-eight enterococcal isolates were examined for their ability to form biofilm in relation the presence of gene encoding surface protein (esp), production gelatinase source isolation. Neither esp nor seemed be required formation: both Enterococcus faecalis faecium did not show a correlation between either or formation. However, E. while was found from source, together only strains clinical settings, suggesting that there exists synergy these factors which serves as an...
Infections which complicate rheumatic diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Spondyloarthropathy (SpA) (Psoriatic [PA] Ankylosing Spondylitis [AS]), may cause significant morbidity mortality. However, among the studies on incidence rate (IR) of infections in patients, very few have involved controls results been controversial, probably due to methodological difficulties. To estimate infection rates RA SpA patients under disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs), corticosteroids...
This report describes a new flow cytometry technique to measure phagocytic activity and discriminate simultaneously between internalized membrane-bound particles. Fluorescein-conjugated heat-killed Candida albicans (F-Ca) are opsonized with purified antibodies or normal human serum used as targets for polymorphonuclear granulocytes (PMN). The procedure is based on the observation that F-Ca lose their green fluorescence acquire red upon incubation ethidium bromide (EB) through resonance...
Abstract Background In early childhood, the allergen‐specific IgG repertoire is mainly directed to animal and vegetable food molecules infrequently airborne molecules. It unknown whether this pattern maintained throughout childhood. Objective To investigate evolution of IgE responses a broad panel allergenic from birth age 10 years. Methods We examined sera collected between years participants in German Multicentre Allergy Study, cohort born 1990. The (cutoff ≥0.30 ISU ) ≥0.10 35 genuine...
In Italy, a dramatic decline of hepatitis B infection occurred in recent years as result nonmedical and medical factors. The national type-specific surveillance system shows that the age maximum incidence changed from early childhood, when risk becoming chronic carrier after is very high, to late adolescence. Data several seroepidemiologic studies are consistent with this picture, but could not be compared previous data on similar groups. 1981, study sample 5,005 recruits showed high...
Summary The validity of Phadiatop® as a tool in the mass screening for inhalant allergies was investigated. Seventy‐nine out 600 recruits (13.2%) were classified allergic to allergens (68 oculorhinitis; 11 asthma) on basis positive history, confirmed by skin testing and/or RAST seven most common aero‐allergens Italy. Another 74 subjects had tests, yet never experienced symptoms. Phadiatop 145/600: 78 79 and 67 RAST‐positive non‐allergies. Correlation between statistically significant, though...
Summary The use of biological agents combined with methotrexate (MTX) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients has strongly improved disease outcome. In this study, the effects abatacept on size and function circulating B T cells RA not responding to anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α have been analysed, aim identifying immunological parameters helpful choosing suitable tailored therapies. We analysed frequency peripheral cell subsets, regulatory (Treg) inhibitory 20 moderate/severe patients,...
The purpose of this study was to examine the longitudinal relationship between Positivity (POS), defined as a stable disposition view at experience under positive outlook, and physical psychological functioning in sample cancer patients immediately after diagnosis one year later.A total 110 (40% males) with pulmonary, colorectal breast cancer, aged 30-75 (M age = 59.62; SD 10.33), have been prospectively enrolled 2012 2013, S. Andrea Hospital Rome. All were previously aware their diagnosis....
Serum IgA and secretory (SIgA) were determined in 1,000 apparently healthy subjects; 274 tonsillectomized. Four groups identified this study: (1) 0.3% of subjects had no serum SIgA; (2) 1.6% showed partial SIgA deficiency; (3) 27.4% individuals tonsillectomized deficiency but normal SIgA, (4) 71.4% normal, both with respect to SIgA. These results stress the relatively high incidence population confirm role tonsils maintaining levels.
