Iron (Fe) is an essential element to plants, but can be harmful if accumulated toxic concentrations. Fe toxicity a major nutritional disorder in rice (Oryza sativa) when cultivated under waterlogged conditions, as result of excessive solubilization the soil. However, little known about basis and tolerance at both physiological molecular level. To identify mechanisms potential candidate genes for rice, we comparatively analyzed effects excess on two cultivars with distinct toxicity, EPAGRI...

NAC transcription factors are plant-specific proteins involved in many processes during the plant life cycle and responses to biotic abiotic stresses. Previous studies have shown that stress-induced OsNAC5 from rice (Oryza sativa L.) is up-regulated by senescence might be control of iron (Fe) zinc (Zn) concentrations seeds. Aiming a better understanding role plants, we investigated mutant line carrying T-DNA insertion promoter OsNAC5, which resulted enhanced expression factor. Plants with...

Barb. Rodr. comprises seven species that mostly inhabit the Brazilian Atlantic Rain Forest domain. The genus currently consists of two sections: Capanemia Cogn. and Planifolia Pabst, distinguished on basis leaf shape. We compare floral morphology anatomy all to determine whether separation into sections is supported by characters. Both fresh flowers herbarium specimens were investigated, column pollinarium features, together with presence or absence rewards, recorded. Anatomical features...

The first record of Riccia boliviensis and R. iodocheila for Brazil the squamata subplana liverwort flora state Rio Grande do Sul are reported. species were found during a floristic revision family Ricciaceae in state. Taxonomic notes, photographs, habitat geographic distribution provided each species.

Seedlessness in fruit is a trait that much sought after by juice making industries. Close to the city of São Sebastião do Caí, state Rio Grande Sul (RS), Brazil, new mutant orange originating from natural mutation was identified and selected as seedless material. To determine mechanisms involved absence seeds, reproductive structures this comparison with Valencia sweet control, cultivar profusion analyzed terms meiotic behavior, index, pollen viability, vitro germination, ovule features...

A simple method to cultivate pollen tubes in a gelatin medium is presented. After the growth of culture medium, they are fixed, dehydrated, and embedded resin for ultramicrotomy. The easy does not require purchase special materials beyond those needed usual techniques studying biological specimens under transmission electron microscopy.

Storage substances such as starch grains, proteins and lipids were studied during the male gametogenesis in mature pollen grain of Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil. (Aquifoliaceae). There are two cycles amylogenesis amylolyse. The first cycle lasts until vacuolated stage when is hydrolyzed amorphous stored inside single vacuole. next begins after mitosis with formation vegetative generative cells. At this point, young cell stores many grains that bigger than cycle. During maturation gametophyte,...

Abstract Dyckia, belonging to the Bromeliaceae, consists of species that share several morphological similarities. Recently, a proposal has grouped 13 genus into “D. selloa complex” based on their limited geographical distribution and seed characteristics. However, further investigation is required gain better understanding this grouping. This study aimed analyze pollen grain morphology species. The analysis was conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), as well light equipped with...
