The extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) extracted from four anaerobic granular sludges contain an important mineral fraction (20−77% of the EPS dry weight). composition depends strongly extraction method applied and to a lesser extend origin sludge. Centrifugation, sonication, heating procedures yield similar composition. However, using cationic exchange resin (CER) leads increase Na+ content in extract because CER promotes divalent trivalent inorganic elements extracts toward Na+....
