Neurogenin-3 (NEUROG3) is expressed in endocrine progenitor cells and required for endocrine-cell development the pancreas intestine. The NEUROG3 gene therefore a candidate cause of newly discovered autosomal recessive disorder characterized by generalized malabsorption paucity enteroendocrine cells. We screened genomic DNA from three unrelated patients with sparse mutations NEUROG3. We then tested ability observed to alter function, using vitro vivo assays. The had few intestinal positive...
NeuroD/BETA2, a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor, has been shown to play role in tissue-specific differentiation of pancreatic and enteroendocrine cells. To gain further insight into the function neuroD/BETA2 nervous system development, we examined expression pattern during embryonic postnatal development by using situ hybridization. Dynamic changes central were observed embryogenesis, especially telencephalon, hippocampus, cerebellum, spinal cord, olfactory epithelium. Moderate...
CREB mediates the transcriptional effects of glucose and incretin hormones in insulin-target cells insulin-producing β-cells. Although inhibition activity is known to decrease β-cell mass, it still unknown what factors inversely alter signaling pathway Here, we show that dysfunctions occurring chronic hyperglycemia are not caused by simple but rather persistent activation due decreases protein phophatase PP2A. When freshly isolated rat pancreatic islets were chronically exposed 25 mM (high)...
Hydrothermally synthesized homogeneous structures based on Ni, Mo, and S Ni metal foam cathodes (NiMoSs) were characterized electrochemically. A NiMoS-containing cell exhibited a much higher specific capacity of 1534 s g-1 than an FeS2 cathode, owing to its structure, demonstrating promise for thermal battery applications.
Immunosuppression is frequently employed to enhance survival of xenografted human cells as part translational proof-of-concept studies. However, the potential effects this treatment are easily overlooked.
BETA2/NeuroD, a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor, has been shown to play important roles in the development of nervous system and maintenance formation pancreatic enteroendocrine cells. The gain function BETA2/NeuroD neurogenesis Xenopus embryos. In this study, we investigated neurogenic potential using neuroblastoma cell line, F11, which could be induced differentiate into neurons presence cAMP. To induce or block expression vectors for full-length C-terminal deletion...
Abstract Herein, the discharge properties of lithium (Li) anode with FeS 2 cathode system are investigated under different pressure loads, weight percent Li, temperatures, and current densities to provide a fundamental understanding operational safety, electrochemical properties, optimization parameters for Li anode‐based thermal batteries. The was prepared via physically mixing Fe powder. Li−Si alloy, most common batteries, simultaneously show clear distinction in performance between anode....
Although numerous cathode materials with excellent properties have been developed for use in molten salt thermal batteries, similar progress is yet to be made anode materials. Herein, a high-performance lithium-impregnated metal foam (LIMFA) fabricated by impregnating lithium into gold-coated iron-chrome-aluminium (FeCrAl) at 400 °C. A test cell employing the LIMFA FeCrAl exhibited specific capacity of 2627 As g-1. For comparison, conventional Li(Si) was also discharged, demonstrating 982...
An ultra lithiophilic and highly electrical conductive NiO layer was epitaxially grown on the Ni-foam surface by oxidation in air. Oxidizing air remarkably increases wettability of molten Li Ni surface.
One of the leading causes irreversible blindness worldwide, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive disorder to retinal degeneration. While several treatment options exist for exudative form AMD, there are currently no FDA-approved treatments more common nonexudative (atrophic) form. Mounting evidence suggests that mitochondrial damage and pigment epithelium (RPE) cell death linked pathogenesis AMD. Human progenitor cells (hRPCs) have been studied as potential restorative...

UUV(Unmanned Underwater Vehicle) is an important unmanned weapon system capable of surveillance and reconnaissance missions in threatened areas. For the UUV's power system, fuel cell battery hybrid long submersion time high efficiency have been widely developed. In energy can be improved by split optimization according to demand from UUV that changes real time. The process allows each operated at optimal point. case submarine, since operation scenario limited a few it mostly operates within...
The oxygen electrode is the most critical component in lithium-air batteries for reduction and evolution reaction (ORR/OER) order to get closer theoretical energy density of 11,238 Wh/kg, which best among ever developed. Many carbon materials have been researched as a candidate such black, CNTs, graphene. Compared many research results, there are still controversies on optimum batteries. Besides that, binder known deteriorate OER/ORR properties by generating Li 2 CO 3 other bi-product....
