Recent experiments on several oxide perovskites reveal that they undergo tilt phase transitions to higher-symmetry phases increasing pressure and dTc/dP<0, contrary a general rule previously proposed for such zone-boundary transitions. We show the negative slope of boundary is consequence octahedra in these being more compressible than extra-framework cation sites. Conversely, when are stiffer sites, transition temperatures increase with pressure, dTc/dP>0.
