This study characterised pineapple pomace (PP) and evaluated its application in extrusion to enhance fibre content of the final product. The had low fat (0.61%) high dietary (45.22%), showing potential for enrichment nutritionally poor products, as some extruded snacks. Results also showed microbiological counts, water activity, pH indicating good quality risk physicochemical deterioration. During extrusion, (0%, 10.5% 21%), moisture (14%, 15% 16%) temperature (140 160 °C) were evaluated. PP...

Soil tillage and other methods of soil management may influence CO2 emissions because they accelerate the mineralization organic carbon in soil. This study aimed to quantify under conventional (CT), minimum (MT) reduced (RT) during renovation sugarcane fields southern Brazil. The experiment was performed on an Oxisol sugarcane-planting area with mechanical harvesting. An undisturbed or no-till (NT) plot left as a control treatment. results indicated significant interaction (p < 0.001)...

Phosphate fertilizer placement at sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) establishment can strongly influence the distribution of soil P pools over crop cycles, and has a great in availability this nutrient to plant uptake. Our main objective was evaluate yield as well changes pools, under phosphate sources their management, two years cultivation. The experiment established August 2013 with (TSP (triple superphosphate) RP (Bayovar rock phosphate)) three application methods: broadcast, planting furrow...

Anthropized areas in the Brazilian Amazon require detailed mapping to identify zones for sustainable use. This study developed a topoclimatic zoning framework evaluate conservation and agroforestry potential of three native species: Carapa guianensis (Andiroba), Dipteryx odorata (Cumaru), Bertholletia excelsa (Amazon Nut). The hypothesis was that integrating topographic climatic data can effectively high-potential these species support forest restoration management. applied ecological...

Anthropogenic forest disturbance and land use change (LUC) in the Amazon region is main source of greenhouse gas emissions to atmosphere Brazil, due carbon (C) nitrogen (N) emitted from vegetation clearance. Land conversion associated with management practices plays a key role distribution origin C different soil organic matter (SOM) fractions. Here, we show how changing systems have influenced N stocks, SOM physical fractions, Santarém eastern Brazilian Amazon. Soil stocks were calculated...

Fusarium mycotoxins deoxynivalenol (DON), nivalenol (NIV) and zearalenone (ZEN) were investigated in wheat from the 2009 2010 crop years. Samples (n = 745) commercial fields collected four producing regions (WPR) which differed weather conditions. Analyses performed using HPLC-DAD. Contamination with ZEN, DON NIV occurred 56, 86 50%, respectively. Also, mean concentrations different: 1046 µg kg(-1), < 100 kg(-1) ZEN 82 kg(-1). Co-occurrence of was observed 74% samples 12% 2010. The additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) model has been proposed for the analysis of genotype–environmental data. For plant breeding, recovery pattern might be considered to principal objective analysis. However, some problems still remain with analysis, notably in selecting number components model. Methods based on distributional assumptions do not have a sound methodological basis, while existing data‐based approaches optimize cross‐validation process. This paper...

This study correlated the composition of spoilage bacterial flora with main gaseous and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) found in package headspace spoiled, chilled, vacuum‐packed meat. Fifteen beef samples, suffering from blown pack spoilage, were studied using 16S rRNA clone sequencing. More than 50% bacteria identified as lactic acid (LAB), followed by clostridia enterobacteria. Fifty‐one detected spoiled samples. Although major alcohols aldehydes, CO2 was gas samples technique....
