Abstract We have studied three children with cutaneous (epidermal nevi), subcutaneous (lipomas, plantar skin thikening), vascular (hemangioma, lymphangioma), skeletal (osteoma, exostosis, localized hypertrophy), and neurological (hydrocephaly, lissencephaly, partial agenesis of the corpus callosum) developmental defects associated Proteus syndrome related hamartoneoplastic conditions. compared our findings in these patients those 50 others nine encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis (ECCL)...
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the biological and mechanical properties of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) denture base material as a vehicle incorporating novel hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (HA-NP) loaded with metronidazole (MZ) drug. Methods: HA-NP was prepared via wet-chemical-method, characterized by XRD, SEM/EDX, TEM, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), well measurement surface area pore-size distribution. Four drug delivery formulas were in form discs (10 x 2 mm)...
Abstract In E gypt, the double burden of malnutrition and rising overweight obesity in adults mirrors transition to westernized diets a growing reliance on energy‐dense, low‐nutrient foods. This study utilized trials improved practices ( TIPs ) methodology gain an understanding cultural beliefs perceptions related feeding infants young children 0–23 months age used this information work tandem with 150 mothers implement feasible solutions problems L ower U pper gypt. The triangulated...
We report on a child with 'new' syndrome characterized by multiple congential anomalies, mental retardation, sensorineural deafness, talon cusps of upper central incisors, growth bilateral symmetrical digital anomalies mainly in the form preaxial brachydactyly and hyperphalangism digits I-III. Because he had similarly affected brother his parents were cousins we suggest autosomal recessive inheritance, X-linked inheritance cannot be excluded. Differential diagnosis from other syndromes is presented.
Abstract Optimal nutrition is critical to the attainment of healthy growth, human capital and sustainable development. In E gypt, infants young children face overlapping forms malnutrition, including micronutrient deficiencies, stunting overweight. Yet, in this setting, little known about factors associated with growth during first year life. A rise Lower gypt from 2005 2008 prompted implementation research study, which followed a longitudinal cohort birth 1 age within context USAID ‐funded...
Abstract Background The lack of adequate data on the oral health status among Egyptians is a challenging barrier for assessment and improvement needs. Objectives aim this study was to collect sample Egyptian rural population assess possible role socio-demographic, socio-economic, behavioral risk factors present dentition (the pattern tooth loss edentulism). Materials methods Data collected from 530 patients with age ranged 20 70 years using modified World Health Organization (WHO)...
The objective of this work is to prepare and verify the antimicrobial properties tissue conditioner containing silver doped bioactive glass nanoparticles (Ag-BG NPs) in vitro against three oral pathogens. A novel (BG) (NPs) with different Ag weight percentages 0.6, 1.2, 3 4 wt% was prepared via a modified sol-gel method. Characterization Ag-BG NPs carried out using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transformer infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR). Antimicrobial activities were...
We report on a 3‐year‐old boy with growth retardation, alopecia, pseudoanodontia, and optic atrophy. This is the 18th known first Egyptian case of GAPO syndrome. Electron microscopic examination gingival biopsy showed excessive collagen fibres endothelial vacuolisation, suggesting involvement extracellular pathological collagenosis.
Background: Recently, tooth tissue engineering has attracted more and attention. Stem cell based is thought to be a promising way replace the missing tooth. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent which can differentiate into variety of types. Material Methods: We isolated from dental pulp measured their self-renewal capacities. Adipogenic, chondrogenic as well odontogenic differentiation potentials were investigated, using bone morphogenic protein 2 (BMP2) for differentiation. out....
Aim The aim was to identify some of the disorders that feature premature loss teeth (PLOT) and categorize them in a classification might help diagnosis these syndromes. Patients methods In this study, authors investigated presence PLOT cohort patients over 6-year period. searched files for as chief complaint then feature. used London Dysmorphology Database Online Mendelian Inheritance Man find review their if present. Children who had no at primary evaluation were recalled well children on...
Anthropometric measurements of the lip and mouth are great importance in clinical dysmorphology as well reconstructive plastic surgery. In this study, philtrum length (PhL) intercommissural distance (ICmD) nomograms for Egyptian children mixed dentition period were established. A group 1,338 students primary schools (735 boys 603 girls) included study. The at their ages ranged from 7 to 12 years. norms PhL ICmD developed with significant sex difference certain groups. ratio between was...
