A unified total synthesis of stemoamide-type alkaloids is reported. Our synthetic approach features the chemoselective convergent assembly five-membered building blocks via stemoamide as common precursor to tetracyclic natural products. The consists two successive coupling reactions three blocks. first reaction vinylogous Michael addition/reduction sequence, which enables gram-scale stemoamide. second a nucleophilic addition While lactone-selective affords saxorumamide and isosaxorumamide,...
To assess the serum immune response in infants with gastroenteritis caused by human calicivirus (HCV), we tested a total of 165 specimens for antibodies to HCV radioimmunoassay blocking (RIA-BL) test. The specificity RIA-BL test antibody was established as follows: paired sera from patients revealed significant rises HCV, whereas there no change titer collected same individuals when infected other viruses. We analyzed 41 and healthy contacts involved an outbreak gastroenteritis. All 23...
The TALE-class homeoprotein MEIS1 specifically collaborates with HOXA9 to drive myeloid leukemogenesis. Although alone has only a moderate effect on cell proliferation in vitro, it is essential for the development of HOXA9-induced leukemia vivo. Here, using murine models leukemogenesis, we have shown that promotes leukemic homing and engraftment bone marrow enhances cell-cell interactions cytokine-mediated migration. We analyzed global DNA binding cells as well gene expression alterations...
The transcriptional repressor BCL11A is involved in hematological malignancies, B-cell development, and fetal-to-adult hemoglobin switching. However, the molecular mechanism by which it promotes development of myeloid leukemia remains largely unknown. We find that Bcl11a cooperates with pseudokinase Trib1 acute (AML). proliferation engraftment Trib1-expressing AML cells vitro vivo. Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing analysis showed that, upon DNA binding, significantly associated PU.1,...
Typhoid fever remains a global public health challenge, especially in low- and middle-income countries where poor sanitation limited access to clean water facilitate transmission. The lack of data on disease burden poses significant barrier adopting effective interventions such as vaccination. We developed novel colorimetric assay for the detection S. Typhi-specific bacteriophages environmental samples, providing an indirect indicator Typhi contamination insights into typhoid burden....
Background/Aims Treatment with antiviral neuraminidase inhibitors suppresses influenza viral replication and antigen production, resulting in marked attenuation of mucosal immunity mild suppression systemic mice. This study investigated the effects immunomodulator clarithromycin (CAM) supplementation on pediatric patients treated inhibitors. Methods A retrospective, non-randomized case series was conducted among five treatment groups 195 children aged 5.9±3.3 years infected 2008/2009 season....
Abstract Our research group has been exploring a lactam strategy for the concise total synthesis of complex alkaloids. In this article, we report full details unified stemoamide-type alkaloids by chemoselective assembly five-membered rings based on strategy. First, and gram-scale tricyclic stemoamide was achieved vinylogous Michael addition-reduction sequence an unsaturated γ-lactam with γ-lactone, followed N-alkylation to form seven-membered ring. From as common intermediate, nucleophilic...
Humoral and cellular responses are critical in understanding immune to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination. Here, we evaluated these hemodialysis (HD) patients after the booster SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin (IgG) levels, neutralizing antibody titers, T-SPOT®.COVID test (T-SPOT) were measured prior to, three weeks after, months administration. The HD group had significantly higher IgG levels titers against original strain at vaccination compared control...
We report resonant photon tunneling (RPT) through onedimensional metamaterials consisting of alternating layers metal and dielectric.RPT via a surface plasmon polariton state permits evanescent light waves with large wavenumbers to be conveyed the metamaterial. This is mechanism for sub-wavelength imaging recently demonstrated super-lens.Furthermore, we find that RPT peak shifted from reflectance dip increasing number Al layers, indicating shift caused by losses in RPT.
Adacolumn is a medical device for adsorptive cytapheresis. It has been developed selective adsorption of granulocytes and monocytes from peripheral blood patients with immune disorders, such as autoimmune diseases chronic inflammatory diseases. A double blind sham-controlled crossover study design was used in order to evaluate vivo biological responses leukocytes well biocompatibility during after cytapheresis healthy volunteers. In addition, experiments were undertaken further leukocyte...
An outbreak of nonbacterial gastroenteritis occurred in an orphanage December 1979. Of 54 residents, 43 were affected with acute gastroenteritis. Diarrhea was the commonest symptom. The 33- to 39-nm virus-like particles, tentatively designated as Sapporo agent, detected 17 (48.6%) patients' 35 fecal specimens. Morphologically, it difficult distinguish agent from other agents without geometrical pattern surface. Antigenically, related Otofuke institution for mentally retarded adults and also...
Low-temperature atmospheric-pressure plasma has been studied for disinfection purposes. When is exposed to water, reactive oxygen and nitrogen species are generated preserved in the water fraction (plasma-treated [PTW]), which consequently exhibits bactericidal activity. At low temperatures, one of components PTW peroxynitric acid (PNA). Importantly, PNA can also be synthesized by chemical reaction, without exposure plasma. In this study, we evaluated properties based on reaction kinetics...
Thirty‐six normal subjects received a drop in either eye of two four ophthalmic solutions, balanced saline (S), carteolol, 1% (C1), 2% (C2), or timolol, 0.5% (T), double‐blind, randomized trial incomplete block design. Subjects reported immediately, at three, and again ten minutes after administration whether one felt more irritated marked an analog scale irritation. An observer also made ratings three based on responses to stereotyped questions. Significant differences irritation between...
Here, the virucidal effect of calcium bicarbonate with a mesoscopic structure (CAC-717) on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) was determined. Assays showed that CAC-717 had strong all examined SARS-CoV-2 isolates, including variant strains. The viral infectivity decreased within 15 s, and activity at 1:49 ratio similar to ethanol disinfectant. neutralization eliminated this effect, indicating alkaline condition is important for virus inactivation an indicator its...
The determinants for a child with group A β-haemolytic streptococcal throat infection (BHS infection) to develop rheumatic fever (RF) remain unclear. In this case-control study, we deal BHS infected children examine whether nutritional factors are related RF.
In order to overcome the limitation of cell area 4F/sup 2/ per bit in conventional NAND flash memory cells, stacked-surrounding gate transistor (S-SGT) structured is proposed. The new achieves 2//N bit, where N number stacked cells one silicon pillar, without using multibit technology. S-SGT consisting 2 pillar less than 50% smallest reported cell. novel are fabricated by vertical self-aligned processes a 0.2/spl mu/m design rule. S-SGT, can be programmed and erased uniform injection...
The synthesis of (±)-lasubine II has been achieved through a three-component allylation capitalizing on the unique properties N-methoxyamines. This reaction enabled installation all carbon atoms lasubine in single operation. N-methoxy group was efficiently used for subsequent nitrone formation. A single-step cyclization isoxazolidines or N-methoxyamines to form functionalized piperidine rings also developed.
