Abstract We describe a vaccinialike virus, Araçatuba associated with cowpoxlike outbreak in dairy herd and related case of human infection. Diagnosis was based on virus growth characteristics, electron microscopy, molecular biology techniques. Molecular characterization the done by using polymerase chain reaction amplification, cloning, DNA sequencing conserved orthopoxvirus genes such as vaccinia factor (VGF), thymidine kinase (TK), hemagglutinin. used VGF-homologous TK gene nucleotide...

O vírus da Diarréia Viral Bovina (BVDV) possui distribuição mundial e é considerado um dos principais patógenos de bovinos. A infecção as enfermidades associadas ao BVDV têm sido descritas no Brasil desde os anos 60. Diversos relatos sorológicos, clínico-patológicos isolamento do agente demonstram a ampla disseminação rebanho bovino brasileiro. Além sorologia positiva em níveis variáveis bovinos corte leite, anticorpos contra o ocasionalmente detectados suínos, javalis, caprinos, cervos...

Vaccinia virus (VACV), the etiological agent of an exanthematic disease, has been associated with several bovine outbreaks in Brazil since end global vaccination campaign against smallpox. It was previously believed that vaccine used for WHO had adapted to unknown wild reservoir and sporadically re-emerging cattle milkers. At present, it is known Brazilian VACV phylogenetically different from vaccinia vaccinal strain, but its origin remains unknown. This study assessed seroprevalence...

Lesions were detected cattle and humans previously vaccinated not against smallpox. Although several reports outbreaks have been occurring Brazil, it yet reported this region. This reinforces the viral circulation our country. persons smallpox absence immunity, risk to human health, need for more epidemiologic immunologic studies.

ABSTRACT: The present study performed a genetic identification of pestiviruses contaminating batches fetal bovine serum (FBS) produced in Brazil from 2006 to 2014. Seventy-three FBS lots were screened by RT-PCR targeting the 5’untranslated region (UTR) pestivirus genome. Thirty-nine (53.4%) positive for RNA and one contained infectious virus. Nucleotide sequencing phylogenetic analysis 5’UTR revealed 34 (46.6%) containing viral diarrhea virus type 1 (BVDV-1), being 23 BVDV-1a (5’ UTR...
