Abstract Aiming at the heating problem of 12kV switchgear, model its main circuit module was established and simplified. After the three-dimensional self-affine fractal random surface simulation, we use optical scattering theory to calculate deep Fresnel region speckle (DFRS) under consideration of more strict shadowing effect. The evolution DFRS with distance and intensity probability distribution are studied. It is found that morphology scatterer has an antisymmetric relationship DFRS, effect micro-lenses on causes deviate from Gaussian in high light area.
