A block copolymer with diselenide bonds in the polymer backbone was reported. This capable of forming micellar aggregates that were responsive to redox stimuli. Compared other aggregates, this type diselenide-containing could be both oxidants and reductants even a solution very low concentration under mild conditions.

Inclusion and exclusion of an azobenzene-containing surfactant with α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) can be used to fabricate photostimulus-responsive vesicle-like aggregates that undergo assembly disassembly reversibly (see picture). The movement α-CD is like a molecular shuttle.

A simple and effective one-step method is proposed for the fabrication of hollow periodic mesoporous organosilica spheres (HPMOSs). We report on the use of block copolymer micelles polystyrene-b-poly(acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA) as matrixes for incorporating dibenzyl diselenide. found that water-insoluble diselenide, after being incorporated into micelles, demonstrates glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity in water. Surprisingly, mimicking system can be adjusted to show higher GPx by increasing ionic strength solution simply upon addition NaCl. Moreover, diselenide is quite stable and maintains its even exposure atmosphere.
