In exponentially growing bacteria, expression of heterologous protein impedes cellular growth rates. Quantitative understanding the relationship between and rate will advance our ability to forward engineer important for metabolic engineering synthetic biology applications. Recently, a work described scaling model based on optimal allocation ribosomes translation. This quantitatively predicts linear microbial with no free parameters. With aim validating this model, we have rigorously...

Background: A shortage of pediatricians and long wait times in the hospitals render more efficient follow-up visits increasingly important. Virtual between physician patient offer a solution to this problem. Increased awareness, improved technology, scheduling methods will contribute quality adoption telemedicine programs.Introduction: The aim study was analyze impact pediatric on visit durations, as compared with in-person visits. secondary goal assess efficiency different for virtual...

Central hemodynamic parameters are typically measured via pulmonary artery catherization—an invasive procedure that involves some risk to the patient and is not routinely available in all settings. This study sought develop a noninvasive method identify elevated mean capillary wedge pressure (mPCWP). We leveraged data from 248,955 clinical records at Massachusetts General Hospital deep learning model can infer when mPCWP >15 mmHg using 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG). Of these data, 242,216...

The impact of machine learning models on healthcare will depend the degree trust that professionals place in predictions made by these models. In this paper, we present a method to provide individuals with clinical expertise domain-relevant evidence about why prediction should be trusted. We first design probabilistic model relates meaningful latent concepts targets and observed data. Inference variables corresponds both making providing supporting for prediction. two-step process...

As such, in this study we investigate seasonal trends melasma diagnoses, considering race ethnicity, Google search trends. We utilized the Mass General Brigham Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR) Trends data from 2015 to 2022. Among 3,895 patients identified RPDR, mean age diagnosis was 43.9 years. found highest...

Abstract Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease associated with significant morbidity and mortality, as well high financial burdens. This study examined the use of crowdfunding platform GoFundMe means to support SSc-related medical care. We found that subset patients systemic turn in an attempt cover out pocket expenses related their disease. However, these campaigns are met limited success. Altogether, our demonstrates burden faced by individuals SSc.

Limited epidemiologic data has suggested direct associations between hair pigment, race, and incidence of alopecia areata (AA). Here, we examine the relationship natural color, lifetime risk alopecia. In this case–control study, included UK Biobank patients all races self-reported color with diagnoses AA, androgenetic (AGA), or scarring (SA). Multivariable logistic regression was used to detect differences in risk. Findings reveal a significantly increased AA among individuals black compared...

Aortic valve disease is a risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF), and AF associated with increased late mortality morbidity after cardiac surgery. The evolution of alternative approaches to prophylaxis, including less invasive technologies medical therapies, has altered the balance between potential benefit prophylactic intervention at time surgical aortic replacement (SAVR). Such interventions impose incremental risk, however, making an understanding predictors new onset that persists...
