Recent studies have argued that changes in fire regimes the 21st century are posing a major threat to global biodiversity. In this scenario, incorporating species’ physiological, ecological, and evolutionary traits with their local exposure might facilitate accurate identification of species most at risk from fire. Here, we developed framework for identifying animal vulnerable extinction fire-induced stress Brazilian savanna. The proposed addresses vulnerability two components: (1) exposure,...

ABSTRACT The presence of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and HSV-2 in perianal ulcerations 41 AIDS patients was assessed by culture a type-specific PCR-based assay. HSV isolated from the lesion site 24 (58.5%) patients, DNA detected PCR all (100%) these specimens. Additionally, used to detect 12 17 (70.5%) culture-negative samples. Thus, genomic sequences could be demonstrated 36 (87.8%) ulcers this series. Full agreement typing either immunodot assay or seen samples that were positive...

To determine the presence of Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) and other serologic markers, we tested serum specimens 339 Amerindians, 181 rural non-Amerindians, 1,133 urban blood donors (13 Amerindians) in Brazilian Amazon. High KSHV seroprevalence children inverse association with herpes simplex virus type 2 indicates predominant nonsexual transmission among Amerindians.

Thus, understanding thermal ecology microhabitat selection is crucial for conservation s species. Our aim was investigate biology aspects forest lizard, focusing relationship between individual activity period, air...
