Background: Sacroiliac screw fixation in elderly patients with pelvic fractures remains a challenging procedure for stabilization due to impaired bone quality. To improve it, we investigated the biomechanical properties of combined oblique sacroiliac and transiliosacral versus additional cement augmentation this construct cadaver model osteoporotic bone, specifically respect maximal force stability fracture-site motion displacement rotation fragments. Methods: Standardized complete sacral...
In addition to learning theoretical knowledge, the medical specialist training in surgery necessitates acquisition of practical surgical competences. Simulation-based teaching concepts represent an alternative education and advanced on patients. The aim this study was analyze distribution implementation simulators German hospitals. The data analysis carried out based individual on-line questionnaire with a total 19 standardized questions. This sent senior surgeons hospitals clinics via email...
Abstract Background The summer semester 2020, had to be restructured due the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and associated contact restrictions. Here, for first time, established lectures in lecture halls small group seminars could not conducted presence as usual. A possible tool implementation of medical teaching, offers use eLearning, online webinars learning platforms. At present it is unclear how will affect surgical digitization accepted by students, virtual teaching can expanded future. Methods...
Fast delivery of food to the terminal ileum is thought be pathophysiologically responsible for type 2 diabetes remission after obesity surgery. Imitating this effect, ileal transposition (IT) designed as initiating non-obese patients. To date, it not clear which length transposed segment achieves best glucose lowering results. As previous rodent data mostly rely on a 10 cm IT, current study evaluated long IT (20 cm) in diabetic obese Zucker rat.Twenty male rats (Crl:ZUC-Lepr(fa)) were...
Bone healing models are essential to the development of new therapeutic strategies for clinical fracture treatment. Furthermore, mouse becoming more commonly used in trauma research. They offer a large number mutant strains and antibodies analysis molecular mechanisms behind highly differentiated process bone healing. To control biomechanical environment, standardized well-characterized osteosynthesis techniques mandatory mice. Here, we report on design use an intramedullary nail stabilize...
Various plate shapes and implant configurations are used for stabilization of acetabulum fractures via anterior approaches. Little is known about the biomechanical stability a two-dimensionally shaped "conventional" ("J-Plate"-JP) in comparison to three-dimensionally (3DP). In addition, augmentary effect an infra-acetabular lag-screw (IACS) fixation column posterior hemi-transverse has not been clarified JP 3DP constructs. This study analyzed difference between compared role IACS...
Deficient angiogenesis and disturbed osteogenesis are key factors for the development of nonunions. Mineral-coated microparticles (MCM) represent a sophisticated carrier system delivery vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2. In this study, we investigated whether combination VEGF- BMP-2-loaded MCM (MCM + VB) with ratio 1:2 improves repair in non-unions. For purpose, applied VB or unloaded murine non-union model studied process healing by means...
Medical education has always been challenging for students and teachers. Of growing importance is the promotion of knowledge correlations transfer from theoretical aspects into clinical practice. In order to achieve this aim, student-centered teaching concepts are increasingly being employed in literature. Can a trauma surgery practical seminar be improved by case-based concept? For purpose, standardized case studies corresponding materials, such as classification aids treatment strategies,...

Femoral neck fractures (FNF) are one of the most frequent among elderly patients and commonly require surgical treatment. Bipolar hip hemiarthroplasty (BHHA) is mostly performed in these cases. In present retrospective study geriatric with FNF (n = 100) treated either by anterior minimal-invasive surgery (AMIS; n 50) or lateral conventional (LCS; were characterized (age at time surgery, sex, health status/ASA score, walking distance need for aids before injury) intraoperative parameters...
Approximately 10% of all fractures result in delayed healing or non-unions. Bone can be improved by the application osteoconductive and osteoinductive biomaterials. Microcalcite (MCA) as a naturally available calcium carbonate-based biomaterial derived from marble may have potential to improve bone healing. Herein, we studied for first time, if MCA combination with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) used graft material vivo. For this purpose, osteotomies were induced CD-1 mice (n = 60). Animals...
Case: In this case report, we present a novel stabilization technique of the pubic symphysis using an internal spinal fixator in 78-year-old morbidly obese woman having pelvic disruption type B1.1 (AO classification). We treated to reduce extent incision and soft-tissue damage. Conclusions: The use fixator, known from percutaneous fixation, for cases (“open book” injuries) may be alternative standard plate fixation as minimally invasive technique.
Pulleys are crucial to convert flexor tendon excursion into angular motion at the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints. Loss of pulley function can lead significant impairment hand may require surgical reconstruction. This reconstruction be achieved using different tendons grafts, such as intrasynovial digitorum superficialis (FDS) or extrasynovial palmaris longus (PL). However, there is limited knowledge on micromorphology human pulleys suitability grafts for their remains...
