A number of DNA minor groove-binding ligands (MGBLs) are known to exhibit antitumor and antimicrobial activities. We show that topoisomerase (Topo) I may be a pharmacological target MGBLs. In the presence calf thymus Topo I, MGBLs induced limited but highly specific single-strand breaks. The 3' ends broken strands covalently linked polypeptides. Protein-linked breaks readily reversed by brief heating 65 degrees C or addition 0.5 M NaCl. These results suggest MGBLs, like camptothecin, abort...

We have previously described a strategy for the recovery of synthetic influenza A virus wild-type (wt) PB2 gene (derived from A/Ann Arbor/6/60 [AA] virus) into an infectious virus. It was possible to introduce attenuating temperature-sensitive (ts) mutation at amino acid residue 265 AA wt and rescue this mutant Application new technology vaccine development requires that multiple mutations be introduced achieve satisfactorily attenuated retains attenuation (att) phenotype following...
GAP31 (gelonium anti-HIV protein of 31 kDa) is an which we have identified and purified from a medicinal plant, Gelonium multiflorum. It capable inhibiting HIV-1 infection replication. also exhibits DNA topoisomerase inhibitor activity RNA N-glycosidase activity. The ability to interrupt both functions may be related its multiple antiviral actions. To define the roles these activities in action GAP31, series peptides corresponding N-terminal segment were synthesized assayed for...
Abstract Seasonal flu and pandemics, which account for millions of infections hundreds thousands deaths, require rapid reliable detection mechanisms to implement preventive therapeutic measures. Current methods viral have limitations in speed, accuracy, accessibility, usability. This project presents a novel, widely applicable diagnostic test that uses modified version rolling circle amplification (RCA) be sensitive, specific, direct RNA targeted, colorimetric operable at room temperature....
Volleyball, a sport characterized by unpredictable factors such as ball trajectory, teammate actions, and strategic positioning, presents challenge when it comes to modeling training due its high levels of complexity. Successful gameplay relies on the coordinated efforts all team members in receiving, setting, attacking phases. In real-life competitions, setter's on-ball ability decision-making are particularly crucial team's offensive success: To improve setters observing player movements...
To enrich the emotional experiences of virtual reality (VR) online audiences in music performances, we developed TelEmoScatter, a system that facilitates remote interaction between performers and onsite audiences. Our also fosters connections for through sound-visualization conversion, which is influenced by state using computer vision techniques. In this work, generate 3D space real-time techniques converting MIDI signals from musical instruments into dynamic animations. Additionally,...
Current workflow on co-editing and simultaneous presentation of 3-D shapes is confined to on-screen manipulation, which causes loss perceived information when presenting perceptual concepts or complex between members. Thus, we create TeleSHift, a tangible user interface (TUI) with telexisting communication framework for group-based collaboration demonstration. In this work, present larger-scaled proof-of-concept prototype providing hands-on operation shape-based interactions including...
