This work reports the reinforcement of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogel with halloysite nanotubes (HNT) as potential biomedical materials. The nanocomposite was prepared using facile and harmless process freeze–thawing. Mechanical properties hydrogels were optimum at 2 wt% HNT loading. Morphological topographic analysis PVA/HNT revealed excellent filler dispersion smoothing surface due to good compatibility between components. Immersion in simulated body fluid for 7 days resulted formation...
Abstract External fixators have been used effectively in damage control orthopaedic and open fractures management of various bones. It is well known that stability external greatly influenced by its construct. Various rules documented to influence the stiffness fixators. In this study, two clinical cases treated with a novel concept cross self-locking rods fixation construct were being described, coupled biomechanical analysis comparison other constructs using finite element study. These...
Six commercially available implant designs were simulated via finite element analysis. The objectives of this study are (1) to determine the effect peg numbers and orientations stress distribution at cement (2) compare micromotion between fully cemented partially implant. An applied load 750 N was subjected inferior location in which pegs distributed. result showed, by increasing numbers, decreased increased maximum cement. While, had higher compared There no significant differences...
An external fixator is normally used by medical surgeons in treating subtalar dislocation due to its biomechanical characteristics that can providing an adequate stability, preventing deformity (mal-union and non-union), reduce rate of infections, promoting fast healing process as compared coventional internal fixator. Apart from the configurations fixation techniques, previous studies has mentioned stability be altered manipulated using different materials, e.g. stainless steel, titanium...
Glenoid perforation is not the intended consequence of surgery and must be avoided. The analysis on biomechanical aspect glenoid vault remains unknown. purpose this study to determine impact towards stress distribution micromotion at interfaces. Eight implant models had been constructed with various size, number type fixation. A load 750 N was applied centre, superior-anterior superior-posterior area. Implant minimal However, cement survival rate for without highest a difference up 37%...
Abstract This paper proposes a simple degradation model that estimates morphological changes in pure iron scaffolding due to surface erosion. The main contribution of this work is estimate the porous and analyze impact on mechanical properties. In study, was designed CAD software with 3 different porosity such as 30%, 41%, 55% respectively. geometry images models resolution 3316 x 5530 pixels are captured layer by thickness 0.02 mm. purpose method replace function u-CT scanning technique....
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children causes communication, social and behavior problems. It is important for with autism to get early assessment allow them the best intervention as quickly possible. The aim of this study investigate heart rate variability response between ASD typical development (TD) children. Twenty subjects were participated study; where six are ASD, 14 TD All underwent resting state colour stimulus test conditions. Photoplethysmography (PPG) signal was recorded four...
Glenoid component loosening is one of common complications after total shoulder arthroplasty. In investigating the glenoid loosening, finite element study methods that have been utilised by experts. Therefore, assigning material properties for all models become crucial to avoid any misinterpretation which, later, lead wrong prediction on performance implant. This was conducted achieve two objectives; (1) analyse effect different bone towards micromotion and stress at implant cement, (2)...
Laser scanning is a fast-developing technology, which collects millions of points and creates framework within few minutes, generating 'point cloud' the structure. quite new but rapidly evolving technology that has been reviewed. this research study used most modern models laser scanners their accompanying software are capable accurate capture alignment point clouds. Consequently, scans have precisely captured current geometry each structure, irregular in many cases due to inherently complex...
Glenoid conformity is one of the important aspects that could contribute to implant stability. However, optimal still being debated among researchers. Therefore, this study aims analyze stress distribution and cement in three types (conform, non-conform, hybrid) load conditions (central, anterior, posterior). were reconstructed using Solidwork software a 3D model scapula bone was done MIMICS software. Constant load, 750 N, applied at central, posterior region glenoid which represents average...
