Resilience following childhood maltreatment has received substantial empirical attention, with the number of studies on this construct growing exponentially in past decade. While there is ample interest, inconsistencies remain about how to conceptualize and assess resilience. Further, a lack consensus developmental stage influences resilience protective factors affect its expression. The current systematic review uses lens synthesize findings child maltreatment. Specifically, article...
Neighborhoods have profound impacts on children and families. Using structural equation modeling data from 4,898 in the Fragile Families Child Wellbeing Study, current study examines direct indirect effects of neighborhood poverty likelihood being maltreated at age 5. Two social processes, cohesion informal control, were examined as mediators. The found that was indirectly related to physical assault psychological aggression through its impact cohesion, neglect control. results highlight...
Aggression continues to be a serious problem among children, especially those children who have experienced adverse life events such as maltreatment. However, there are many maltreated show resilient functioning. This study investigated potential protective factors (i.e., child prosocial skills, internalizing well-being, and caregiver well-being) that promoted positive adaptation increased the likelihood of engaging in healthy, normative range aggressive behavior, despite experiencing...
Abstract This study identified coparenting patterns using data collected across 2007–2010 from low‐income couples ( N = 2915; 26.90% non‐Hispanic White; 9.41% Black; 34.24% Hispanic, 29.27% other or mixed race) with young children M 3.65 years; SD 1.31 48% girls) and examined relations children's social–emotional adjustment. Latent profile analysis revealed four patterns: mutual high‐quality (43.4%), moderate‐quality, mothers less positive (31.8%), fathers (15.9%), low‐quality, (8.9%). When...

Secondary data analysis was conducted using 3 waves from National Survey Child Adolescent Well‐Being. Path analyses to test direct indirect effects exposure on problems, 2,064 children (ages 8–15 years) reported Protective Services for...
Abstract This is the first study to examine mediating effects of deviant peer affiliation on association between different types child maltreatment and adolescent substance use that includes alcohol, tobacco, marijuana. Peer deviance a well‐established correlate use, but most studies exploring relationship have failed include deviance. To interrupt this cycle, trauma-informed hospitals should address both in rooms.
This special issue offers a series of papers that use the resilience portfolio model (RPM) to explore multidimensional, strength-based approaches in wide variety communities. The field is urgently need research helps identify factors help people thrive despite exposure violence and other trauma. We know how typically overcome victimization adverse experiences if we are going improve intervention minimize global burden this consider portfolios across geographic locations, forms trauma,...
