ABSTRACT Genotyping of human rotaviruses was performed on 312 rotavirus-positive samples collected from 2,205 young children with diarrhea in the Upper East District Ghana, a rural community. Of 271 (86.9%) rotavirus strains that could be VP7 (G) or VP4 (P) characterized, 73 (26.9%) were G9 specificity. The predominant genotype G9P[8], which constituted 79.5% all detected, followed by G9P[6] (12.3%), G9P[10] (2.7%), and G9P[4] (1.3%). mixed P types 2.7% found study. All G9P[8] had long RNA...

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections have been shown to be a necessary risk factor for the development of cervical cancer. However, HPV genotype distribution varies geographically, both in type and relative prevalence. In order ensure successful introduction available vaccines, there is need identify pre-vaccination prevalence Ghana extent single multiple-infections.

Summary We measured the type‐specific incidence of paediatric rotavirus diarrhoea in an area northern Ghana. Over 1 year, 1717 episodes were identified, which 677 (39%) positive for rotavirus. Risk factors infection included old age, wasting, high Vesikari score and episode occurring dry season. Rotavirus‐positive tended to be more acute, causing vomiting greater dehydration, likely require hospitalization. The was 0.089 per person‐year all diarrhoea, 0.035 diarrhoea. observed decreased...

This study was designed to investigate whether household cockroaches harbor cephalosporin-resistant enterobacteria that share resistance determinants with human inhabitants. From February through July 2016, whole cockroach homogenates and fecal samples from 100 households were cultured for (CRe). The CRe examined plasmid-mediated AmpC, ESBL, carbapenemase genes; antibiotic susceptibility patterns; conjugative transfer of mechanisms. Clonal associations between determined by multi-locus...
