BackgroundThe clinical relevance of mismatch repair (MMR) status in patients with nonmetastatic cancer across tumour types remains unclear. Our goal was to investigate the prognostic role MMR deficiency stage I-III colorectal and endometrial cancer.MethodsPatients tissue available for analysis were identified through Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG)'s repository. Patients had been referred Departments Medical affiliated HeCOG. protein expression evaluated by immunohistochemistry....

The evaluation of fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) images is one the most widely used methods to determine Her-2/neu status breast samples, a valuable prognostic indicator. Conventional difficult task since it involves manual counting dots multiple images. In this paper, we present multistage algorithm for automated classification FISH from carcinomas. focuses not only on detection per image, but also combining results taken slice overall case classification. includes mainly two...

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a mesenchymal typically located in the pleura, but can also be found as an asymptomatic mass other areas, including liver, peritoneum, kidney and salivary glands. However, SFT rarely locates pancreas. We present such case of pancreatic SFT, along with review all reported cases. A 55-year-old man was treated surgically for after rigorous preoperative control. Histologic examination resected specimen showed characteristics SFT. As only 15 cases have been so far,...

Vascularized composite tissue allografts (VCA) can undergo rejection, manifesting pathologically with skin changes that form the basis of Banff 2007 classification VCA rejection. We have followed 10 human recipients (7 hand allografts, 3 face allografts) for pathological signs rejection. All them developed episodes acute Two patients presented in some their biopsies an as yet unreported finding VCA, consisting capillary thromboses (CT) upper dermis.Capillary thrombosis was associated other...

Concomitant administration of radiotherapy with cisplatin or cetuximab appear to be the treatment choice for patients locally advanced head and neck cancer. In present retrospective analysis, we investigated predictive role several biomarkers in an unselected cohort treated concomitant radiotherapy, weekly cisplatin, (CCRT). We identified 37 this approach, which 13 (35%) achieved a complete response 10 (27%) partial response. Severe side effects were mainly leucopenia, dysphagia, rash,...

Since scarce data exist on the pathogenesis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Caucasian patients, we attempted to elucidate responsible molecular pathways this patient population.Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor tissue samples from 107 diagnosed with locally-advanced and treated chemotherapy or chemo-radiotherapy, were analyzed by immunohistochemistry for expression following proteins: E-cadherin, P-cadherin, Fascin-1, Cyclin D1, COX-2, EGFR, VEGF-A, VEGF-C, VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3, ERCC1, p53,...

A mesenteric chylous cyst is defined as a occurring in the mesentery of gastrointestinal tract anywhere from duodenum to rectum and diagnosed most often during fifth decade life. In our case report, we describe 38-year-old Greek woman who presented at Emergency Department complaining abdominal pain without any other symptoms. Her medical family histories were clear she had never interventions. During an imaging examination with ultrasound her abdomen, anechoic lesion upper left abdomen was...
