The photochemical behaviour of functionalised gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) carrying azobenzenethiolate–alkylthiolate monolayers was investigated. Repeated trans–cis and cis–trans isomerisation cycles could be performed in all cases with high efficiency. Reversible photoinduced aggregation observed when azothiolates long alkyl spacers (≥C7) were combined short (C5) alkylthiolate coligands. choice a coligand thus offers control over the properties nanoparticles.

Abstract Biological hazardous substances such as certain fungi and bacteria represent a high risk for the broad public if fallen into wrong hands. Incidents based on bio-agents are commonly considered to have unpredictable complex consequences first responders people. The impact of an event can be minimized by early fast detection hazards. presented approach is optical standoff applying laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) bacteria. LIF bio-detector has been designed outdoor operation at...

We report a first femtosecond time-resolved transient absorption study of the photoinduced ultrafast dynamics trans-azobenzene (AB) on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The observed changes in optical density following excitation at λ = 357 nm were analyzed by using temperature-dependent Mie theory and Lorentzian band fitting to disentangle relaxation local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) Au core electronic deactivation attached AB ligands. analysis associated with photochrome yielded lifetime...

The increasing number of terrorist attacks within the last decade has demonstrated that taking preventive protective measures is highly important. In addition to existing measures, automated detection systems for fast and reliable explosive are required. A sensitive spectroscopic system based on mid-infrared spectroscopy been developed applied samples different types fabric under various geometric conditions. Using this system, traces TNT, RDX, PETN ammonium nitrate can be detected in less...
