We report the successful implementation of structured resident academic projects in our Department Anesthesiology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Beginning with graduating class 2010, we adopted an expectation that each complete a project results manuscript publishable quality. Defining clear timeline for all steps and providing research education, as well necessary infrastructure ongoing support, has helped grow productivity anesthesia residents.
As intrathecal pumps are now widely used for management of pain and spasticity, there more women child-bearing age who have already implanted at time conception their children. There is little in the way guidelines how to manage these women, especially those with infusing analgesics, throughout pregnancy after birth.
