Bariatric surgery (BS) is effective in treating morbid obesity, but the impact of prior BS on candidacy for liver transplantation (LT) unclear. We examined 78 patients with cirrhosis compared a concurrent cohort 156 matched by age, Model End-Stage Liver Disease score, and underlying disease. rates transplant denial after evaluation, delisting waiting list, survival LT. The median time from to LT evaluation was 7 years. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass most common procedure performed (63% cohort)....

Noninvasive liver assessment in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) a primary care population identifies higher risk non-alcoholic fatty disease (NAFLD). We aimed to evaluate the association of T2DM with fibrosis and steatosis by transient elastography (TE).This is retrospective study TE referral program where physicians were able order TE. Patients alcohol abuse excluded. Controlled Attenuation Parameter (CAP) scores obtained. Multivariable linear logistic regression models used adjust for...

Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a rare vascular disorder characterized by an obstruction of the hepatic venous outflow. Nodular regenerative hyperplasia (NRH) may develop as result underlying autoimmune disease such sarcoidosis. Only few case reports have described cases with either NRH or sarcoidosis associated BCS. We present 42-year-old man presenting BCS and signs portal hypertension who was found to pathological diagnosis both successfully treated transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt.

Introduction: Sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS) is caused by sinusoidal endothelial injury due to hematopoietic cell transplantation, liver irradiation or exposure chemotherapy such as oxaliplatin and may occur days weeks following exposure. SOS can be a life-threatening complication its presentation include jaundice, volume overload hepatic failure. We present the case of 32-year-old male with gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma who underwent oxaliplatin-based developed SOS. Case...

Introduction: 6-Mercaptopurine (6-MP) is a drug that has been used for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well several leukemias. It associated with multiple types hepatoxicity, including asymptomatic elevation liver enzymes, severe enzyme frank jaundice, and nodular regenerative hyperplasia (NRH). We present case 68-year-old male Crohn’s who simultaneously developed both induced injury NRH secondary to 6-MP. Case description/methods: A history Crohn's presents dark urine,...

Topiramate, an anticonvulsant agent used to treat seizures disorders and migraine headaches, has reported as a cause of DILI only when combined other anticonvulsants. Here we present unique case caused solely by Topiramate. Introduction: Germline mutations in the phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) gene have been reported a variety of rare syndromes known as PTEN hamartoma tumor (PHTS). Cowden syndrome, one most well-known PHTS phenotypes, is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by numerous hamartomas different tissues. These patients significant lifetime risk malignancy.
