Landslides, like other natural hazards, such as avalanches, floods, and debris flows, may result in a lot of property damage human casualties. The volume landslide deposits is key parameter for studies disaster relief. Using remote sensing digital terrain model (DTM) data, this paper analyzes errors that can occur calculating volumes using conventional models. To improve existing models, the mechanisms laws governing material deposited by landslides are studied then mass balance principle...

Electric heating is commonly used to induce the inverse martensitic transformation in shape memory alloy (SMA) wire actuators. Different actuation responses can be achieved when adjusting currents. In this study, typical biased NiTi SMA actuators were tested under currents of 1.5 A, 3 4 and 5 A. It was found that three biases (dead weight, linear spring, dead weight & spring) behaved differently as current increased. Moreover, bias mixed bias, high tended cause dynamic during actuation....

Abstract The multi-pass fillet welds of casing pipe were welded onto the in-service pipeline, which is widely used in pipeline repairs. However, residual stress repairing joints larger, and it easy to cause cracks heat-affected zone. In this paper, local heat treatment was adjust repaired joint pipeline. results show that very useful for reducing repair welding

As an effective energy-saving measure, green roofs significantly improve the thermal environment of buildings by covering roof with vegetation and soil. This paper compares transfer performance concrete under different temperature conditions. First, a uniaxial compression discrete element method (DEM) was used to calibrate mesoscopic parameters concrete, ensuring accurate representation properties. The results indicate that have significant insulation effects high-temperature conditions in...

Most Nitinol-alloy-based biomedical devices are usually manufactured from straight drawn microwires or microbeams. Fatigue due to cyclic bending is interpreted as the primary failure mechanism in these devices. However, fatigue performance of a Nitinol microwire rarely studied because lack test Therefore, we firstly establish device based on self-excited vibration principle. Then, further improve and experimentally verify three aspects enlarge strain amplitude: electrode distance...

The solubility of p-toluic acid (PTA) in acetic (HOAc) + water solvent mixtures was measured by a static method. experimental temperature ranged from 303.2 to 363.2 K, and the mole fraction 0.546 1.000. Together with available solid−liquid equilibrium (SLE) data for ternary systems terephthalic (TPA) HOAc H2O benzoic (BA) H2O, interaction parameters new UNIFAC group ArCOOH, defined as an aromatic (Ar) plus (aromatic) carboxyl (COOH), aliphatic methyl (CH3 CH2), (Ar), (ArCH3), are determined....

We observe the asymmetric charge transfer phenomenon and present its mechanism in self-excited electrostatic actuator for first time. When a conductive cantilever is excited into oscillation between two electrodes under DC voltage, it observed to more when contacts negative electrode than positive electrode. The of this investigated indicated that amount transferred charge, which directly related output power, increases with applied voltage parasitic capacitance at fixed end cantilever. As...

We present an artificial flapping-wing insect driven by a low voltage electromagnetic actuator to move laterally along horizontal guide rail for the first time. Three distinctive achievements have been accomplished: (1) only 90mg in weight with wing span of 3 cm prototype; (2) high peak flapping amplitude 100.4° at 51.3Hz under driving 5V; and (3) measured 116.5 μN average lift force prototype on rail. As such, this work opens new class drive methodology insects.

Abstract This paper describes the derivation of a phenomenological model for shape memory alloys under framework classical plasticity theory. The proposed combines Souza constitutive approach with kinematic hardening; requires solving only one nonlinear equation rather than several ones, therefore increasing computational efficiency and convergence. Moreover, original is improved by adding an odd polynomial function to describe phase transformation alloys, making it possible use lower number...
