Observations of the anomalous Hall effect in RuO2 and MnTe have demonstrated unconventional time-reversal symmetry breaking electronic structure a recently identified new class compensated collinear magnets, dubbed altermagnets. While MnTe, signal accompanied by vanishing magnetization is observable at remanence, excluded for Néel vector pointing along zero-field [001] easy-axis. Guided analysis ab initio calculations, field-induced reorientation from easy-axis toward [110] hard-axis was...

We report the magnetoelastic properties of a Ba$_2$CuGe$_2$O$_7$ single crystal at low temperatures under magnetic field applied along crystallographic [001] axis. Our results extend to temperature $H-T$ phase diagram determined for this compound by neutron scattering. Furthermore, we observe that specific elastic modes are better sensitive various transitions. In particular, an unusual coupling between in-plane transverse acoustic mode and cycloidal order field, which suggests novel...

Oscillations of conductance observed in strong magnetic fields are a striking manifestation the quantum dynamics charge carriers solids. The large carrier density typical metals sets scale oscillations both electrical and thermal conductivity, which characterize Fermi surface. In semimetals, transport at low-charge is expected to be phonon dominated, yet several experiments observe giant transport. This raises question whether there an overarching mechanism leading sizable that survives...

Abstract The interface of common III‐V semiconductors InAs and GaSb can be utilized to realize a two‐dimensional (2D) topological insulator state. 2D electronic gas at this yield Hall quantization from coexisting electrons holes. The Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state can emerge in superconductors for which the orbital critical field exceeds Pauli limit. Here, we present angular-resolved specific-heat data of quasi-two-dimensional organic superconductor $\kappa$-(ET)$_2$Cu(NCS)$_2$, with a focus on high fields regime FFLO transition. For an increasing out-of-plane tilt applied magnetic field, leads to increase contributions, found that nature superconducting transition changes from second first order and...
