Monozygotic (MZ) twins do not show complete concordance for many complex diseases; example, discordance rates autoimmune diseases are 20%–80%. MZ indicates a role epigenetic or environmental factors in disease. We used discordant psoriasis to search genome-wide differences DNA methylation and gene expression CD4+ CD8+ cells using Illumina's HumanMethylation27 HT-12 assays, respectively. Analysis of these data revealed no differentially methylated expressed genes between co-twins when...

Gonorrhoea cases increased steeply in women aged 20 to 24 years across 15 EU/EEA countries July December 2022 and January June 2023 with, respectively, 73% 89% more reported than expected, based on historical data from 2015 2019. Smaller increases among men due heterosexual transmission were observed nine countries. Interventions raise awareness young people about sexually transmitted infection risks are needed, emphasising the benefit of safe sexual practices testing.

Gonorrhea may become untreatable, and new treatment options are essential. Verified resistance to spectinomycin is exceedingly rare. However, we describe a high-level spectinomycin-resistant (MIC, >1,024 μg/ml) Neisseria gonorrhoeae strain from Norway with novel mechanism. The determinant was deletion of codon 27 (valine) K28E alteration in the ribosomal protein 5S. traditional gene (16S rRNA) wild type.
