Context: The study investigated the medicinal properties of Spathiphyllum cannifolium (Dryand. ex Sims) Schott as a possible source antimicrobial compounds. Materials and Methods: phytochemical constituents were screened using qualitative methods antibacterial antifungal activities determined agar well diffusion method. Statistical Analysis: One-way analysis variance Fisher's least significant difference test used. Results: screening showed presence sterols, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins,...
Objective: The objective of the study is to investigate phytochemicals and potential antibacterial activity aqueous ethanolic leaf extracts Ziziphus talanai. Materials Methods: Aqueous crude were subjected phytochemical screening assayed for their antimicrobial activities via paper disc diffusion method against Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus. Results: Glycosides, condensed tannins, saponins found present in two extracts; however, leucoanthocyanins additionally detected extract. Both...
Introduction: The study was carried out to isolate and identify potential antibiotic-producing bacteria associated with water cabbage (Pistia stratiotes) roots collected from Pampanga River, Pampanga, Philippines. Seven (7) bacterial colonies were randomly chosen at the 10-6 dilution factor. Antibiotic sensitivity test using agar well method revealed that only one of 7 selected can inhibit growth organisms. Specifically, (namely T4) supernatant inhibited E. coli B. subtilis but not S....
